• Uses sepia or orange-toned colour palette• Creates a “nostalgic” feel to it because sepia-toned images
provoke sentimentality and warmth• Creates the atmosphere that the artist is fond or familiar
with gigs similar to the series of images he took

William Coutts- Unlike McGinly, Coutts uses the flash, to create
and artificial “harsh” lighting, creating a “detached” effect
- Maybe this is to represent the vibe, purpose and location of the gig (Camden Underground)

- For me, Mollison’s works break the boundaries between what is seen “normal”; since celebrities are mostly perceived as “role models”. By creating and directing outrageously creative outfits, this “role model” image is being broken down. Maybe this is to reinforce the idea of celebrities being humans, being like us.
James Mollison – from The Disciples, 2005-2011Lady Gaga, Boardwalk Hall, Atlantic City, 19 th February 2011

Turner’s work caught my eye because, she presented the one and only King of Pop – Michael Jackson. It is really difficult to not notice, not only because it’s Michael Jackson, but also because Turner effective showed Jackson’s progression when it came to his plastic surgeries.

I absolutely adored the artists’ work. This is because I love Lady Gaga. The works presented Lady Gaga in four different ways. The use of square frames reminded me of the social media site Instagram’s image format – in order to invoke pop culture, which is familiar to our generation.
Gypsy, Venus, Artpop, Dope
