The Merry Opera Company The Messiah - staged
In the Merry Opera Company's dramatisation of Handel's Messiah, twelve strangers seek spiritual comfort in their struggle to understand the world. Singing together in a church, they inspire each other to pick up the ragged ends of their faith. This production of The Messiah is like no other. There is no staging, nor any special lighting, just the church as it stands. The twelve professional singers sometimes sit with the audience or lean against a pillar. They discover they are not isolated, and by the end of the performance they can face the future with hope. ‘That was the “Messiah” I have waited all my life to hear’. Audience member, Wallingford “A powerful and affirming performance..…a delight. Bringing the singers out from behind their scores brought out the human character of this music” Opera Now

The Anemos Trio The Anemos Trio, comprising Robert Blanken clarinet, Richard Moore
bassoon and Karen Kingsley piano, formed in 2007 to explore the
varied repertoire for their ensemble. They enjoy seeking out both the
old and the new. In June 2011 they broadcast for BBC Radio 3 "Three
Humours" by Anthony Hedges which was dedicated to them.
They have continued their search for interesting and
entertaining repertoire and this year is no exception. For their 2018

Conradin Kreutzer (1780-1849) alongside the Jazz Suite, which is hot
