3 513 St. Catharine—St. Margaret Parish Family
Dear Parishioners, This past Wednesday we celebrated the Feast of All Saints. The celebration
reminds us that the true company of the saints is far more numerous than the list of those who have been formally canonized.
It is also an occasion to recognize and acknowledge that there are a great deal of varieties of holiness. Saints are not formed in any particular mold. Some are renowned for contemplation and prayer, and others for action; some played a public role in the world while others spent their lives in obscurity; some demonstrated a devotion and a zeal for ancient traditions while others were pioneers, charting new possibilities. Some received recognition and honor during their lifetimes, while others were scorned and even persecuted.
The feast also reminds us saints are not super human beings far removed from ordinary existence, but rather are people who recognized the vocation for which all human beings were created and to which we are all called. We do not need to aspire to be a St. Francis or a St. Teresa but rather to follow the path to holiness that lies within our individual circumstances, that engages our own talents and temperaments, that contends with our strengths and weaknesses, that responds to the needs of our neighbors and our own particular moment of history. The feast strengthens and encourages us to create that path by walking it.
Fr. Harry Cullen
Flocknote
Our thanks to Pastoral Council President, Jack Kirnan
for his great presentation the Masses last weekend about
a new parish app called Flocknote which will greatly
enhance our efforts to communicate with our
parishioners on a real-time basis, as well as
improve the overall accuracy of our parishioner
database.
Please go to page 6 of this bulletin for more
information about this important initiative for our
parish. Follow the directions and sign on.
Easter Mass Filming
On Thursday, November 30th at 11am Bishop O’Connell will be celebrating a special Easter Mass. This mass will be filmed and then sent to the Interfaith Broadcast Commission. The footage will be used by various television networks on Easter Sunday 2018.
Parishioners wishing to attend this mass must first complete a waiver which can be found on the parish website or at the rectory. Families and youth are especially encouraged to attend this very unique mass.
There are a limited number of spots, tickets will be given out on a first come first served basis. Once accepted tickets are non-transferrable.
Easter appropriate attire is required of all those attending.
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament In the past few weeks, there has been a drop-
ping off of the numbers signing in for weekly
adoration. In fact, there were two occasions
when there was no one in the chapel. Each time
it was in the early afternoon. The hours of
10.00 am to 11.30 am and again 2.00 pm to
3.00 pm have been the weakest times. The
Blessed Sacrament, when exposed on the altar, should
never be left alone.
Parishioners welcomed back Fr. Martin Fr. Padovani at the October 22nd Meet & Greet in St. Margaret Hall.
