Meriton’s Founder
As founder and Managing Director of The Meriton Group of Companies, Harry Triguboff A.O. has overseen the construction of more than 75,000 residential dwellings, and has won numerous awards for his contributions to the Australian property industry.
Born in Dalian, China in 1933, Harry spent his early childhood in the Russian community of Tianjin south of Beijing. He came to Australia in 1948 and was educated at Scots College in Sydney, before attending Leeds University in England. He graduated with a degree in textile engineering and began his working life in textile businesses in Israel and South Africa, returning to Australia in 1960.
Harry Triguboff became an Australian citizen in 1961. He drove a taxi and owned a milk run before building his first block of apartments and establishing Meriton in 1963 at just 30 years of age. Since then, he has become Australia’s most successful residential property developer and a generous philanthropist, donating millions of dollars each year to many causes. Harry Triguboff is still passionately involved in the design and construction of all projects.
In recognition of his efforts, Harry Triguboff has received two honorary doctorates, and the following honours and awards: IJ 1990 Member of the Order of Australia (AM)

1990Golden Guarantee Meriton Property Management launched, reducing leasing risk by guaranteeing tenants for all of its investors.
2016Flagship Venture Meriton’s embarks on its largest project in 50 years - a 16ha-plus site at Pagewood with over 3000 apartments.
1963Laying Foundations Harry Triguboff set his career foundations with just three staff, constructing an eight-block apartment in Tempe. The entire block would sell for £25,500.
A successful history
Established in 1963, Meriton has made a significant impact on the Australian landscape. We have designed, developed and built an estimated one in 10 apartments in Sydney, along with some of the tallest residential towers in Sydney, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
Like our apartments, Meriton’s sales, leasing and property have evolved over time in response to market conditions. Our luxury accommodation brand Meriton Suites now leads the industry. We have spearheaded the apartment revolution with sophisticated, high-quality apartments that continue to increase in popularity.
1970’sAdaptation During a tough market, Harry opted to adapt and lease Meriton apartments rather than sell them – a winning strategy still fundamental to Meriton’s business.
1984Golden Expansion Meriton expanded to the Gold Coast, with the acquisition of sites at Main Beach and Surfers Paradise.
2010Selling Solutions Meriton Resales division launched, on-selling Meriton apartments for its loyal customers.
2014New Heights Meriton’s second Brisbane tower, Infinity, eclipsed Soleil as the city’s tallest tower at 262m.
1989Bank on us Meriton Property Finance launched as an alternative financing solution to the major banks. 1969
Flagship Development The success of Harry’s largest development of 18 apartments in Meriton Street, Gladesville gave birth to the company name ‘Meriton’.
2009Strength in Strata The Strata Management division launched to manage the day-to-day running of each development.
2003Stay Your Way Meriton Suites formerly known as Meriton Serviced Apartments launched as Meriton’s accommodation brand, offering 26 hotel-style apartments at Bondi Junction.
2003World Acclaimed Former Prime Minister John Howard opened World Tower, which at a lofty 230m is still Sydney’s highest residential building today.
