Connecting people with the love and life of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the World.
Spring 2018
April -June
Parable of the Talents “…To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability.” (Matthew 25: 15)
In the parable of the talents, we are challenged to take God–given talents and abilities with which we have been blessed and use them on behalf of our Master. This spring the Finance Team is challenging members of Auburn United Methodist church to use your talents to help raise money for our 2018 Apportionments. On March 11, we asked you to fill out a card with your proposed project or service, and have been posting them on the billboard in the Fellowship Hall. There are envelopes with $10 each enclosed to be used as seed money for your talent multiplication. Each person can take up to 3 envelopes. There is still time to post your project or service or a request for one. There is also seed money to be used (See the office. Pastor Duane, Sam Samborn or Tamara Klida for seed money.) On June 10th we will receive and share the results of our efforts. If you have questions, please contact Kayte Aspray or Pastor Harris. Kayte can be reached at (989) 798-6609 or [email protected].
Let’s see, together, what our Talents can do to further the work of the Master
Currently listed on the billboard in the Fellowship Hall:

Again this year AUMC will be participating in the Auburn Treasure Hunt Days by hosting a rummage and bake sale & luncheon. Last year we made over $2,200 towards our church apportionments thanks to all the donations and hard work of the people of AUMC. Again this year we will be offering outdoor vendor spots for a minimum $10 donation. This is a great opportunity for those that live outside of the community or those who have apartments and no room to sell. They could also be used by small business or to sell craft show items. Please call the church office ASAP (989)662-6314 to sign up and be included in the advertising. (Open to non-church members also.) Parable of the Talents items - For those selling items and would like to sell at the Treasure Hunt Days there will be free table space available to sell your items. Please call the office (989)662-6314 to reserve space.
SIGN-UP SHEETS to help with the sales and luncheon are at the Serving Center in the Fellowship Hall. Everyone is invited to help, there will be something for anyone to do, even those that don’t get around very well. Sale times are Thursday & Friday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Saturday 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. Please bring your good, clean rummage items to donate starting Sunday, May 13th, items for baked goods sale starting Wednesday, May 16.

CHANGE IN NAMES Due to the re-zoning of the conferences to make the new Michigan Conference, the districts have also been divided into new districts and numbered until new names can be decided on. We are District 3 (formally known as the Saginaw Bay District). Last month, a contest was held to rename our district to fit our new area and the final decision will be announced at the District Conference on April 24 in Midland. Each District has been divided into new D-Zones (Discipleship Zones) beginning July 1, 2018. We are in D-Zone 7 along with St. Luke’s of Essexville, Bay City Grace, Pinconning/Garfield, Alger/Standish/Sterling, and Augres Christ.

11:15 Service 8:45 Service
WORSHIP VOLUNTEERS - Please note that if you are scheduled to serve and cannot serve on that day, please try to switch with some-one. If you can not find someone please contact Joan Schrott for the 8:45 service or Jaye Reisinger for the 11:15 service. A complete list of Fellowship Time Teams and a schedule is located in the Fellowship Hall on the wall behind the Serving Center AND on the HOT PINK bulletin board on the north wall.
RECYCLE RECYCLE RECYCLE Did you know there is a box at the Serving Center in the Fellowship Hall for recycling your bulletin? Most of the inserts in your bulletins can be used again, like unused Communication Cards for example. Each week I sort through the recycle box and pull out everything that can be used again, Communication Cards or inserts. Papers that can’t be used again go in the recycle bin.

Our Vision: Creating a church where children and youth love to attend. Our Mission: Connecting people with the love and life of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Our Core Values: 1. Prayer is a powerful means through which we relate to God. 2. The Bible is the authoritative source for knowing God. 3. Jesus is God's Son. He is the One who reveals in a way like no other that God loves us unconditionally with amazing grace. 4. Mission, local and distant, is a means to love our neighbor in real and relevant ways. 5. Imitating our Lord by practice, practice, practice realizing that none of us are perfect, but we are all on the faith journey together. 6. The Holy Spirit is God’s guiding Presence in whom “…we live and move and have our being” (Acts 17:28).
