Lincolnville Maine The Heart of the Maine Coast Lincolnville, Maine is a well-kept secret –one of those “off the beaten path” places hiding in plain sight on the Midcoast of Maine. Within its boundaries are beaches, lakes, mountains, salmon streams, great places to stay, fabulous food, and countless things to see and do. Voted one of the “top 20 Towns in the U.S.” by Outside Magazine, Lincolnville was first settled in 1774 as a farming and fishing community. Over time it has become home to an eclectic mix of people that includes artists, writers, craftsmen, world-class sailors, boat builders, winemakers, lobstermen, farmers, and just about any other profession you can name.
Lincolnville is probably best known for ‘the Beach’ – a nice sandy beach people traveling Route 1 between Portland and Bar Harbor can’t miss. They stop to admire the view, eat a lobster roll while they watch the surf. Enjoy lobstermen off-loading the day’s watch or the Isleboro Ferry dock nearby. If they travel on, they miss the best of Lincolnville. There is much, much more, and to see it all, you’ll need to stay awhile. Lincolnville is a beautiful place to explore. It has mountains with miles of superb hiking trails and spectacular views of Penobscot Bay and its many islands, lovely countryside to wander through (and you might want to stop at one of the organic farms for some fresh berries), some terrific lakes, ponds and streams for swimming, fishing, kayaking in the summer, and don’t forget the ice-fishing, snow skiing, snowshoeing and ice climbing in the winter.
Lincolnville is also the place to source Maine-made fine crafts, furniture, handwoven blankets, rugs, baskets, jewelry,

paintings, sculpture, and pottery. The directories in this guide give you a list to get a good start. If it is good food and drink –along with friendly people- you seek, you’ll be happy here. At Lincolnville Beach you have fresh locally caught seafood and much more, served in casual but excellent restaurants and eateries. Some of the local inns offer fine dining to the public as
well. If you head inland towards Lincolnville Center, between the mountains and fields, you’ll find a winery, with vineyard and farms offering local produce. Don’t forget to sample the local brewer’s ale and our coffee roaster’s specials or pizza and bread right out of the wood fired oven! And where to stay?
This Guide lists the many inns, bed & breakfasts, cottages, motels and resorts located here. You’ll find places to stay that suit all tastes and budgets! And if you are thinking of moving to the area, the Lincolnville Business Group is a good resource for you to access local services. Come for a visit. Stay for a while long enough to appreciate all that Lincolnville and themidcoast of Maine has to offer... See you soon!
