A NEW APPROACH TO PHOTOCHROMIC LENSES
HOYA Sensity lenses with Stabilight Technology take photochromics to a new level. Stabilight Technology ensures Sensity lenses
perform consistently in all climates, all seasons, all circumstances. Not only do they darken to an attractive category 3 sun lens tint
faster than ever before: they also quickly fade back to full clarity as soon as the ambient light intensity diminishes. During these
rapid transitions, total UV protection remains in place. As a result, Sensity provides the highest user convenience as well as the best
protection.

UNRIVALLED COLOUR RETENTION
Sensity lenses are perfectly equipped to deal with flare and glare. And they do so
without compromising contrast or colour perception. Sensity offers a choice of two
deep, natural tints that were developed by colour specialists to harmonise with sun
lens trends, thus guaranteeing a contemporary look.
EXCEPTIONAL DURABILITY
Sensity light reactive lenses are made with HOYA’s proprietary Photochromic
Precision Technology. A microscopically accurate spin coating process ensures an
even distribution of molecules over the entire lens surface. Superior adhesion is the
result. And so: exceptional performance and extended durability.
UNLIMITED SCOPE FOR ANY CUSTOMER PREFERENCE
HOYA offers Sensity in a huge range of combinations to match any individual
requirements. Sensity is specifically tailored for freeform and can be supplied in all
HOYA single vision, bifocal and progressive lens designs, such as the award-
winning Hoyalux iD range. Naturally, Sensity can be combined with
all HOYA premium coatings and comes in several stock options.

TAMING EXTREME UV: ALWAYS, EVERYWHERE
Traditionally, the performance of light reactive lenses has been hampered by reduced
UV radiation on one hand and extreme temperatures on the other.
Compare a skiing environment, with high levels of mountain UV and low air temperatures,
to a dry, dusty desert with high temperatures and very little UV. In the past, photochromic
lenses had a hard time dealing with such circumstances. And so, on the ski slopes lenses were too
dark -and too slow in later returning to clarity. In hot sands, colour change was too little, too late. For many
eye care professionals, such erratic performance is a prime reason for not recommending photochromics. *
THE ANSWER: STABILIGHT TECHNOLOGY
Stabilight Technology is an innovation in the category. It is HOYA’s answer to light, UV and temperature
reactivity –and it works. Tested across different climates, regions, altitudes and temperatures,
Stabilight Technology provides consistent photochromic performance. Sensity lenses with Stabilight
Technology swiftly darken to a category 3 sun lens tint outdoors, and revert faster than before to full
clarity indoors. Meanwhile, UV protection is maintained at a consistently high level.
NOW YOU SEE IT, NOW YOU DON’T
Hi-tech innovation, complex molecular technology and intensive testing methods result in the best performance for wearers. Your
customers are looking for dependable performance, year-in, year-out. While Stabilight Technology is invisible to the naked eye,
this is exactly what it offers.

2 COLOUR SUBTLETY AND COLOUR PRECISION
The choice of the right tint is vital to performance as well as to contemporary appeal. There is an art to selecting tints that provide
glare reduction without impacting vision and that ensure contrast retention without sacrificing colour experience.
Consumers indicate that the two prime reasons for wearing photochromic lenses are the reduction of glare and sensitivity to
sunlight.* In both areas, colour is a prime concern, impacting both on how you see and how you are seen.
HOYA Sensity offers users a choice here, between a neutral grey tone, and a more flamboyant brown. Both colours have been
professionally defined to match fashion trends as well as to ensure natural colour perception and superior
contrast handling.

NOTHING BUT THE BEST
HOYA’s reputation for high-quality optics and surface treatments is unparalleled. It is a reputation built on in-house research and
development, production and design, expertise and capability. We believe that the best lenses, crafted from the best materials and
treated with the best anti-reflection coatings, deserve the best in photochromic capability. And so we developed our own light
reactive technology.
PHOTOCHROMIC PRECISION TECHNOLOGY
It all begins with a state-of-the-art spin coating process utilising proprietary dye composites, tailored to advanced freeform lens
production. It is this Photochromic Precision Technology that ensures the highest optical quality, the most effective utilisation of
the full lens area and the most consistent performance.
A vital factor is the integration of Sensity with HOYA’s highly regarded anti-reflection treatments, for maximum adhesion, durability
and photochromic quality. Because all of our innovations follow HOYA’s InnoVision design philosophy, perfect matching is ensured.
