Things that remind me of you,clouds floating low in the sky on a sum-merday,whenspringcomesalive,birdsmaking their self known, trees are sofullwiththeirsongs, leavesbeforethewind.Iwonderwhereyou’llbeatyourjourney’send. Adayofgoldenbeautyofautumn;mountain peaks, sweeping the val-ley, chillywindsblowagainstmy face.Smoke rises from a farm house chim-ney, smells of fall, sunset oranges andpinkagainstthegraysky.Snowonyourmountain top, icicles hanging over a cliff ofrocks look likeacrystalglass,spar-klinglikediamonds. Whensunstartstomelttheiceandfrostontheground,youroldcoatandcap, your work boots, tobacco in yourshirtpocket.ThesearethethingsIlove,andfallenleavesofmemoriesofyester-dayspast. Icherishandholddeartomyhear.I see you in all of this, Daddy. You had a story to tell about theoldentimesfromyourchildhooduntilyourdeath.Youhadastorytotellsome-one.Icouldsitmylifeandlistentothemstories, they are so close, dear to my

I’dgatherstardust tomakeyouacrown. I’d pick you the first red rose inspringandhaveitdeliveredbyangelwingsifIcould.Stringsofpearlsfounddeep in the seas, I’d wrap them withmoonlightsowhitedovescanseethemwhenmyheartbreaksforyou. Fallen leaves are for you, Daddy,missingyouevenmoretoday.Gonebutnever forgotten. If you were here, I’dpick you a vase of flowers like I did so many times. You’d say, “Did you bringmethemweeds?”Andthenwe’dlaugh.Imissyousomuch,ourtimestogether,the simple times are the best. You’llneverknowjusthowmuchyou’llmissthemtillthey’regoneandhowyoulovethem. Ifyoustillhaveyourparents,thenyouaretrulyblessed.Lifeistooshort,taketimeouttoenjoythemostimpor-tant things you’ll have, that’s family.Lovethem,cherishthem,becausewe’reheretoday,gonetomorrow.
