PEA’s Rational
Page 3
o Electrical losses is one of KPI that the Government used to evaluate
PEA business performance
o PEA’s electrical network losses is trended to slightly increase during
last 10 years
o Losses in distribution transformer is highly contributed in the total
technical losses
o Almost half of PEA’s distribution transformers is single-phase and
less capacity which is low efficiency compared to the three-phase
and bigger ones
o There is the big potential Gap to reduce losses in the distribution
transformer by improving efficiency of new transformers in
investment plan that can obtain long-term benefit over life cycle

Conclusion
Page 21
o PEA is the biggest customer purchasing the distribution
transformers in Thailand so the movement on quality and efficiency
improvement will influence the markets and industries as well as
energy efficiency policy and impact to the private customers
o To promote the energy efficiency transformers in Thailand needs
the strong support from the Government Agencies to set up Law and
procedure to enforce and protect the end users from false
transformer or dishonest manufacturers
o The close coordination among the Government Agencies, the
electric utilities, the manufacturers and private end-users is one of
the key success factors to establish the energy efficiency of the
distribution transformers and other major electrical equipment as
well
