Teacher’s Day Celebration
Delhi Public School Gandhinagar celebrated
Teachers’ Day on 5th September. This day is
celebrated every year to commemorate the birth
anniversary of India’s second President, Dr.
Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. It is also celebrated to
pay tribute to all the teachers and to thank them for
their role in moulding students into responsible
citizens and creating an ideal society.
Students along with teachers paid homage to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. The programme commenced with
introduction session of students of class XII who were assigned the role of different teachers on that day.
Respective teachers also accompanied the students on the stage. As part of the celebrations special events
were organised by the students of Primary and Secondary Wing to show their gratitude towards teachers. The
main highlights were: an emotive song ‘Mili Yeh Prerna Jinse’ by the students of class V, an enthralling
dance performance on the song ‘School Chale Hum’ by class III and IV and heart warming speeches by class
I and V respectively.
A quiz round based on Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was conducted for the audience by students of Class V.
The assembly was concluded with a tree plantation program.
Class XII students presented a humorous skit and a song. An enchanting fusion dance was presented by Class
X which was a combination of Malala’s Speech in UN and contemporary dance form amalgamated in one
track. Principal Mr. Atanu Rath addressed the gathering in which he extolled the role of teachers in a
student’s life, and appreciated the sincere efforts of the teachers for playing a catalytic role in the holistic
development of every student. The program concluded with tree plantation.

Janmashtmi Celebration
The sanctimonious festival Janmashtami was celebrated by tiny tots on 31st August and 1st September.
Children came dressed up as Krishna and Radha. The diversified activities like ‘Dahi Handi’ and ‘Garba’
dance filled an aura with delectation and delirium. The celebrations bring down the curtain with the
impelling message - “Victory of good over evil”.
Workshop on Oral Dental Hygiene
The importance of Oral Dental Hygiene in our daily life is crucial to maintain smile and preventing gum
disease, tooth decay, infection and bone loss. Our tiny tots were enlightened about the importance of
keeping their teeth clean. Dr.Yashashri Somani, a renowned dentist conducted a workshop on 6th
September. She explained about the different ways to keep our teeth clean with the help of a Power
Point Presentation and videos. The correct method to brush teeth was demonstrated. She emphasised on
eating healthy food so that our teeth can remain healthy and encouraged children to brush at least twice a
day.

Ear Bud printing in boat
Fine motor skills and eye hand co-ordination among children were enhanced by an activity of ear bud
printing on 6th September in which children were given a cut-out of a boat to colour it using water colours with ear bud. Children were also explained about the water transport. It was indeed a pleasure to see small kids making dots with lot of concentration, zeal and enthusiasm.
Good Manners
Manners are something used every day
to make a good impression on others and
to feel good about one self. An activity
was planned on 6th
September to
inculcate good manners among the tiny
tots of Nursery, through which they were
taught the importance of good manners.
The activity was performed with the help
of flash cards and cutouts of happy and
sad faces. Children were asked to match
smiley face for good manners and
grumpy face for bad manners.

Emoji’s Day
‘Where words fail, emoji’s speak’
Emoji’s Day was celebrated on 7th September. Kids were told about how emoji helps in
expressing different feelings and emotions. Kids came to school with various emojis with them. The class was decorated with emoji balloons. The game involved making expressions based on
the words given by the teacher like happy, sad and surprised. They coloured a picture of emoji in
their notebook. The main aim was to explain the students that our facial expressions speak about our feelings so we should be expressive according to the situation and always be happy. Souvenir
of emoji was given to each child as a token of appreciation and photographs were clicked for
memory. Overall the day was full of fun and frolic.
Fancy Dress Competition
Scholastic and co-scholastic activities have an equal importance in school programme for the all-
round development of the child. Keeping this in view, Fancy Dress Event was organised on 10th September for the tiny tots of Pre-Nursery. The purpose of conducting the competition was not
only to blend learning with fun but also to develop confidence in the students by giving them an
opportunity to be on the stage and speak in front of audience. Children came dressed up in their colourful costumes and spoke few lines on their character. The effort and hard work of children
was highly commendable. Best five students were selected by the Parent Judges Mrs. Shweta
Taunk and Mrs. Mausam Panchal. The students were appreciated by giving badges and
certificates to the winners. The competition proved to be a great learning experience for the students and gave them a platform to explore their hidden talents.

Blue Day Celebration
Blue- the colour of loyalty, strength, trust and wisdom had a very positive impact on tiny tots bringing in
harmony and brotherhood.
Blue Day on 11th September was a pleasant and a cool blue day. All the children came dressed up in
different shades and hues of blue. The classroom was decorated with different blue objects and children were introduced to different shades of blue. The significance of blue colour was reiterated through a series of games and play way activities. Excitement and enthusiasm was visible everywhere. The little ones made
blue whale with palm print and did sorting of blue objects. It was an amazing and learning experience. Early identification of colours helped to create the cognitive link between visual clues and words which is an important part of a child’s development.
Visit to Vegetable Market
‘Fruits and vegetables, the best edibles’
A visit to the vegetable market for the students of
Nursery was organised on 14th September to make
the students learn through practical experience by
discussing the colours and names of various fruits and
vegetables with their teacher and classmates. It helped
them to explore many other things like measuring and
transaction of money with the vendors.
More and Less
I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.
Counting activity along with the concept of more and
less was planned for tiny tots in which they were given
two ice-cream sticks with two different numbers
written and asked to paste star stickers according to
given numbers. The concept of more and less was
explained and the stickers of the same were pasted.

Swachhta Shapath
‘Clean Surroundings inculcate Clean thinking’
DPS Gandhinagar, Primary wing has commenced the drive for cleanliness (Swachhta Pakhwada) in the school from 1st September to create an awareness about cleanliness among the students. The mission started with a special assembly where in Swachhta Shapath was administered to the students and the teachers by Mr. Rakesh Kumar Bhagat, Headmaster, Primary Wing.The mission of ‘Clean India and Healthy India’ will be further carried on by various activities in the coming fortnight.

The activity on 4th September for cleanliness dr ive was conducted to motivate the children to keep
their surroundings clean. The Students of standard II and III cleaned their classrooms and premises. The
areas near their classrooms were covered i.e., Primary wing premises, atrium area and play area. The
students enthusiastically picked up litters and put them in the dustbins.

Students from class IV enthusiastically participated in it. The result of the quiz proved that students are well aware about the Swachhta Abhiyan and our hygiene conscious.
Drawing and Painting Competition on Swachh Bharat
‘Kids are the biggest brand ambassadors of Swachh Bharat initiative’– Narendra Modi
A Drawing and Painting Competition was organised for students of class V on 11th September to
propagate the idea of Swachhta Abhiyan. The competition provided our budding artists an opportunity to enhance their creative skills along with getting inspired to promote Green India, Clean India Mission. The best three drawings were adjudged by the Art teachers.
Hand washing Day
‘Two little hands so clean and bright, keeps away all
the germs and plight’
To improve the hand washing habits and practices of
children, as a part of ongoing mission of cleanliness
under the Swachhta Pakhwada, a series of film on
hand washing was shown to the children of primary
wing that gave the message that hand washing with
soap is a ‘do it yourself vaccine’ that prevents
infections and curbs many contagious diseases.

Janamasthami Celebration
‘The greatness of culture can be found in its festivals’ India being the country of varied culture have many colourful festivals that enhances its beauty and greatness. A special assembly on Janamashthami was conducted to mark the birth of Lord Krishna. The
students of class II B on 4th
September, came dressed up as Lord Krishna and Radha and celebrated the occasion by singing and dancing with great joy. The euphonious songs and bhajans sung for Lord Krishna filled the atrium with euphoria and delight. The children enthusiastically performed ‘Dahi-Handi’.
Tree Plantation ‘It is not enough to prepare our children for
the future….we must prepare the future for our children’
Primary wing had organised a tree plantation drive on 5th September. The whole activity was conducted to create awareness among the children towards the natural environment and foster environmental sensitivity in them. Children were very enthusiastic and thoroughly enjoyed plantation along-with Principal Mr Atanu Rath and teachers.
Special Assembly On Ganesh Chaturthi The Primary Wing of Delhi Public School Gandhinagar conducted a special assembly on 10th September 2018 to celebrate the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi. The special assembly was aimed to create awareness amongst the students about our acclaimed festivals. The special assembly along with the festive celebrations was also used as an occasion to provide examination tips to the students before the commencement of Half Yearly Examination.

Schools play an important role in the growth and orientation of the children. Teachers always work in close association with the students. In a bid to inspire healthy competitive spirit and positive reinforcement of the behaviour among the students, sections from Std. I to X were selected for the Best Classes. The classes were assessed from the month of April 2018 to August 2018 on the basis of - The display of Soft Board, Discipline, Academic Record, Cleanliness, Behaviour towards the teachers and peers, participation in CCA, Team Spirit, Communication skills etc. Principal Mr. Atanu Rath motivated by felicitating class teachers and students with a Rolling Trophy for the Best Class.

Swachata Pakhwada

The assembly on 1st September was organised by Class IX which commenced with the prayer and Swachata Shapath, a Pep-Talk and a poem on the
importance and purpose of cleanliness and the students were enlightened about the initiatives taken by the government to make our country clean. The students were also informed about some simple steps that can be
implemented in our day to day life to make our surroundings, society and country clean.
Janmashatmi Celebration
‘Festivals are characterised by colour, gaiety,
enthusiasm, prayers and rituals.’
Janmashtami is observed to celebrate the birth of Lord
Krishna and is celebrated with joy and gaiety all over
the country. The stage was beautifully decorated by the
students and a traditional Dahi Handi was also placed.
The celebration commenced with the recitation and
explanation of some popular shlokas from the Bhagawad Gita. Flute was played by Kumar Aryan Gupta of
class VIII D. Mr Bhavin Pathak enlightened the students that all religions preach equality and foster universal
brotherhood and love. The traditional Dahi Handi ceremony was conducted with a formation of human
pyramid. The students presented a dance drama dedicated to Lord Krishna and they energetically enacted the
scene.

Inter House PEP Talk Competition on “Cyber Alertness”
In the times when our presence in the Virtual or Cyber world is increasing day by day, Computer science Department of DPS Gandhinagar, in order to spread awareness about the pros and cons of cyber world, had organised an Inter House PEP Talk Competition on Cyber Alertness on 1st Sept. Saturday for the students of class XI.
One Team from each house consisting of four participants participated in the competition. Each team presented their views on the topic with the help of PowerPoint slides. The talk was very informative as the students discussed the possibilities where things can go wrong and how to prevent the frauds which are taking place with the help of technology. Few tips for taking precaution while dealing with cyber world were well appreciated by one and all present there.
The judges for the event were Mr. Girish Govindan, Mr. Mohan Baksani and Mr. Sachin Thakkar.
All the teams did their best and the difference in points between them was very less. Team from Tapti House Consisting of Vayu Bhansali, Ishita Kumar, Sanyam Chaudhary and Nivid Shah bagged the First Position. Mahi house team consisting of Varun Chaturvedi, Ridham Rana, Harshjot Singh Pabla and Vaibhav Mehta stood second. Sabarmati House Team consisting of Konark Marwah, Aditya Alex, T.Hariidaran and Rushendra Siddibomma bagged the third position and Narmada House team stood fourth. Members of Narmada House were Krupal Patel, Jeet Kaneriya, Amolika Tripathi and Muskan Tomar.
The Principal, Mr. Atanu Rath, graced the event and guided students for a safe and responsible presence on Cyber World.

Discussion On Effect Of Latest Technology On Youth
"Technology is a wide concept which has an abundance of sub-topics involved in it. It encompasses a wide
spectrum and defining it is a demanding task, but we can certainly discuss its effects and impacts."
National Institute of Mass Communication and Journalism conducted Independent Mass Power (IMP) on
5th September at DPS Gandhinagar on the topic:"Effects of latest technology on Youth" which was
also transmitted live on the Facebook page of ‘Independent Mass Power’ – www.facebook.com/
impmasstalk/ . IMP is a student forum for discussions on important topics at local, state, national and
international level, and also entertainment, literature and many such areas. This IMP session witnessed the
participation of students of class XI and XII. The panel comprised of Col Ravinder Singh, Mr. Mikul Patel
(Founder and CEO, Moodcafe.in & Alumnus of DPS Gandhinagar) and Mr. Samir Parmar (PGT,
Computer Science) as subject expert. The panel also consisted of class XI students.
This IMP brought in new perspectives and insights into how technology is affecting the youth by making
life comfortable, convenient and congenial for the mankind. The anchor highlighted the predicament of children browsing websites getting exposed to salacious content which is not in their control. This was a serious question and several views came up regarding this from the audience and panellists. Mr Mikul Patel
gave an insight on a new term Netiquettes. He elaborated that, “Digital citizenship and netiquettes are getting on hype because of abundant technological advancements. People need to realize that how do we
want to use technology”. This was a very important matter of concern as it opened the discussion to
another perspective. The panellist and audience came up with varied views about this term. IMC team of NIMCJ were thankful to the Principal Mr.Atanu Rath for the immense support in organising the event.

हहिंदी प्राथाना सभा

िोमवार 10 सितम्बर को हहिंदी प्राथषना िभा का आयोजन दकया गया। ईश वन्दना के उपरान्त कक्षा 8 की छात्रा ताररशी के
द्वारा रहीम के दोहों को अथष िसहत प्रस्तुत दकया गया । हहिंदी अध्यासपका श्रीमती रेखा शमाष द्वारा " हहिंदी भाषा का महत्त्व "
सवषय पर सविार प्रस्तुत दकये गए ।
इि अविर पर कक्षा 10 की छात्रा आरुषी ने युग पुरूष श्री अटि सबहारी वाजपेयी के जीवन पर आधाररत वक्तव्य ददया व
उनके द्वारा सिसखत एक कसवता का पाठ दकया , हहिंदी अध्यासपका श्रीमती ऋिा शमाष ने महान गीतकार गोपािदाि नीरज
की कसवता प्रस्तुत की । हहिंदी सवषय के प्रसत जागरुकता िान े के सिए प्रश्न मिंि का आयोजन दकया गया जो कक्षा 9 के
सवद्याथी िमृसद्ध व सनश्चय के द्वारा प्रस्ततु दकया गया ।

With an aim of drawing focus on benefits of tourism, showcasing the cultural diversity of the country and
reinforcing the principle of tourism and love for the country, DPS Gandhinagar organised special assembly
on the occasion of ‘Paryatan Parv’ on 27th September. The students of pr imary and secondary classes of
the school organized different events with the main focus on the theme ‘Dekho Apna Desh’.
To celebrate the spirit of tourism and cultural diversity of incredible India, students of class 5th dressed in
attires of different states gave an insight of the uniqueness of their state. An informative Power point
Presentation displayed in the backdrop highlighted the various heritage sites and monuments of India.
Students exhibited unity in diversity through a beautiful dance performance on the melodious song ‘Mile
Sur Mera Tumhara’.
Students of class 12th walked past the dais with the beautifully decorated
placards to make students aware about the heritage sites and monuments
in the state of Gujarat. An informative speech on the role of tourism to
boost economy of India gave thought to ponder on. A well organised
quiz based on world tourism day and monuments and heritage sites not
only gave the students information but also helped them in recapitulating
the knowledge beyond the textbooks.
The principal Mr. Atanu Rath appreciated the efforts being put by the
primary and secondary sections students and teachers in celebrating
‘Paryatan Parv’. He highlighted the benefits of visiting different places of
historical and cultural importance and further added that tourism bring
mutual understandings, national unity and social harmony.
To promote the campaign further school tours have been organized for the students to Saputara Hills, Dalhousie and Amritsar in the month of October that will provide a unique opportunity to students to connect
with the real world by exploring the rich heritage of the country.

Science Exhibition
‘GAME CHANGERS AND CHANGE MAKERS’ - MODEL DISPLAY Encouraging scientific and technological creativity among students and inculcating a sense of pride in their
talent and to provide exploratory experiences, encouraging creative thinking and promoting psychomotor
skills among students through self-designed models or simple apparatus. Students from classes VI to IX on
1st September displayed scientific model prepared by them which was a par t of Inter House
Competition on the theme “Game Changers and Change Makers”. Models were prepared by the students on
the discoveries and inventions done by the various scientists in their respective field. Models such as rain
water harvesting, remote control truck mounted floor cleaner, blinking savior, dc generator, multiple security
system, Archimedes screw, machine learning in natural language (medicinal), volcano, solar panel, hydraulic
system, hydraulic bridge, etc. were displayed by the efforts of students. Making science models helps
problem solving, develops innovative ideas in technological areas and promotes scientific ideas in daily life
situations. Popularizing Science and technology among masses creates an awareness regarding its impact on
socio-economic and sustainable development of the country.

‘Winners never quit and quitters never win’
An Inter House Cricket Competition for Classes VI &VII
(Under-14) was held on 1st September.
The First Semifinal match was played between Mahi and
Sabarmati house in which Sabarmati house won the match by
08 wickets. The Second Semifinal match was played between
Narmada and Tapti house in which Tapti house won the
match by 57 runs.
The Final match was played between Sabarmati and Tapti
house in which Tapti house won the final match by 36 runs.
INTER HOUSE BASKETBALL COMPETITION UNDER-19 GIRLS
‘Good basket ball always starts with good defence!’ - Bob Knight
Inter house basket ball competition U-19 Girls was held on 1st September. The First Semifinal match was
played between Sabarmati and Tapti house in which Tapti house won the match by 27-26 Points. The
Second Semifinal match was played between Mahi and house in which Narmada house won the match by
60-42 Points.
The Final match was played between Tapti and Narmada house in which Narmada house won the final
match by 38-20 Points.

INTER HOUSE FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT BOYS (UNDER-14)
The First Semifinal match was played between Sabarmati and Tapti house in which Tapti house won the match by 2 – 1 Goals. The Second Semifinal match was played between Mahi and Narmada house in which Narmada house won the match by 4 – 2 Goals.
The Final match was played between Tapti and Narmada house in which
Narmada house won the final match by 1 – 0 Goals in the penalty shoot-out and became the Champion of 2018-19. (Under-14).
INTER HOUSE TAEKWONDO CHAMPIONSHIP 2018(GROUPS -2)
‘One thing you learn in sports– You don’t give up; you fight to the finish.’
Inter house Taekwondo championship Under14 age was held on 1st September to develop the competitive spirit among students. There were 69 students who participated in the competition. All participants performed extremely well and tried their level best to win.

District Level School Game Cricket for Boys (U -19)
‘Everyone has the fire, but the champions know when to ignite the spark’
A District Level School Game Cricket Tournament for boys under - 19 and under - 17 was held at DPS
Gandhinagar on 15th September. Our U-19 and U-17 team comprised of 10 students. Twelve teams
participated in the tournament. DPSG U-19 team played final match against Aadhar Shila School, Valad
and won the match by 24 runs . U-17 team also played the final match against P. J. Vakharia School, Kalol
but lost the match by 11 runs. Seven students from U-19 and five students from U-17 from our school
were selected for the state level tournament. All the players performed extremely well . Under -19 team
brought laurels to the school by winning the final match.
