Dear Prospective Pink Satin Pearl Parent/Guardian:
Congratulations! Your daughter is on her way to becoming a member of the 3rd class
of Pink Satin Pearls in conjunction with the 2016-2017 Pearl Ball Debutante Cotillion
Season. As a Pink Satin Pearl, your daughter will form bonds with new peers, give back
to others in her community and improve her social graces and personal development.
Pink Satin Pearl program participants will partake in the following events and activities:
A meet and greet activity with all of the 2016-2017 Cotillion Pink Satin Pearls
An age appropriate etiquette and manners class
A community service project sponsored by D.C. Pearls III Foundation, Inc.
A photo session with the Cotillion Debutantes and other Pink Satin Pearls
Group fundraising events
A select number of rehearsals for the culminating Pearl Ball Cotillion. Practices
will be conducted in March and April 2017.
The Pearl Ball Cotillion – The formal event will be held Saturday, April 22, 2017,
7:00 pm at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City, Crystal City, VA.
Please review the information in this packet thoroughly. If you are interested in having
your daughter participate in the Pink Satin Pearls program, please complete the
enclosed application and submit it by Saturday, September 10, 2016. You may contact

Eligibility
1) Pink Satin Pearls are girls between the ages of 6-10 ( at the time the application is
submitted).
2) Pink Satin Pearls MUST attend at least three (3) of the scheduled Pink Satin Pearls activities
and fundraisers that are included in the registration fees as well as the scheduled
rehearsals. This will ensure that the Pink Satin Pearls are able to get the MOST out of this
experience.
3) Parents/Guardians of the Pink Satin Pearls must meet application requirements by
Saturday, September 10, 2016.
4) Pink Satin Pearls are expected to fully participate in the culminating Pearl Ball Cotillion,
which will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017.
Attire for Pink Satin Pearls
The Pearl Ball Cotillion attire for the Pink Satin Pearls will be a formal dress (floor length). The
dresses will be ordered on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 after the Pink Satin Pearls are -measured.
The cost of the dress and accessories listed below is included in the registration/application fee.
The accessories include a pair of long pink satin gloves, headband piece and a white pearl
jewelry set. These items will be ordered with the dress and provided prior to the Pearl Ball
Cotillion.
White/Silver, patent leather dress shoes should be purchased separately by the
parents/guardians. The cost of the shoes is not included in the registration/application fee.
Community Service Activity
The Pink Satin Pearls will participate in a joint community service activity with the members of
D.C. Pearls III Foundation, Inc. on Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service scheduled for Monday,
January 16, 2017.
Etiquette and Manners Class
We will host a class on etiquette and manners for our Pink Satin Pearls. The class will include, but
is not limited to demonstrations on greetings, appearance, public speaking and table manners.

Fundraiser Events/Activities
The Pink Satin Pearls will be involved in three (3) low stress fundraising activities. All funds raised
will be used to assist Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Rho Mu Omega Chapter in our effort to
award scholarships to area students and provide community service programs to residents of the
Washington, DC community. The expectation is for each Pink Satin Pearl to assist by
participating in the outlined fundraising events.
The Pink Satin Pearl that raises the most funds will win the title of “Little Miss Pink Satin Pearl - Top
Fundraiser” at the 2017 Pearl Ball Cotillion on Saturday, April 22, 2017 and receive a monetary
award.
Imagination Stage – The Pink Satin Pearls must sell at least 5 or more $20.00 dollar tickets to the
play. The play is Beauty and the Beast and is playing at the Imagination Stage in Bethesda,
Maryland.
Chick-Fil-A Night – This is a fundraiser event where you come out to have dinner and we will
receive a percentage of your purchase. All you have to do is invite as many of your friends and
family to come out that night to have dinner and you will earn funds toward your fundraising
goal. There will be flyers provided that you will need to give to your family/friends so come out to
support this event. A percentage of the total will go toward the fundraiser.
Lanham Roller Skating Event – This is a fundraiser event where you come out and have fun
skating. All you need to do is sell tickets to your family/friends and you will receive a percentage
of the proceeds toward your fundraising goal. The ticket cost per person is $12.00 and we will be
skating at the Lanham Skate Center on Lanham/Severn Road.
Souvenir Journal – The 2016-2017 Pearl Ball Cotillion will produce a program journal in which
advertisements can be placed. Proceeds from these advertisements will help to raise additional
funds for the Pink Satin Pearls. All advertisements for the Souvenir Journal, including monies, must
be received by D.C. Pearls III Foundation, Inc. no later than February 28, 2017 – no exceptions.
Ads should be “camera ready” and electronically submitted. Should you have to scan any
documents or pictures please scan at 300-600 dpi to avoid distortion of images in processing
your advertisement. Only JPG and PDF files will be accepted. Send files to: [email protected].
For your records, as well as to assist with the ad reconciliation process, a Dropbox folder for each
Pink Satin Pearl will also be established for uploading ALL ads and forms associated with their

Registration Fees & Application
The 2016-2017 Pink Satin Pearls registration/application fee is $250.00 payable by personal
check, cashier’s check or money order. This fee will cover all costs associated with the attire
(except shoes), scheduled activities and the culminating Pearl Ball Cotillion for the Pink Satin
Pearls (see breakdown below).
A deposit of $100.00 is due on October 8, 2016. A balance of $150.00 will be due, November 12,
2016. Failure to pay the registration fees on the aforementioned dates and by the appropriate
method will result in your child being unable to participate in the 2016-2017 Pink Satin Pearls
program. Please make checks payable to D.C. Pearls III Foundation.

Functions of the Pink Satin Pearls Committee
1) The Pink Satin Pearls Committee will meet at least monthly from September through April
2017 Note: Meeting dates/times/locations are TBD. Conference calls will be utilized for most
of the meetings.
2) The Pink Satin Pearls Committee will plan and coordinate Satin Pearls events and activities.
See Tentative Schedule of Activities.
3) The Pink Satin Pearls Committee will select the attire (dress, jewelry, gloves, and hair piece)
for the Pink Satin Pearls to wear during the 2017 Pearl Ball Cotillion.
4) The Pink Satin Pearls Committee will assist with ensuring that the Pink Satin Pearls are
prepared and dressed prior to the culminating event start time.

Media Release Agreement for Minor
As you may be aware, Rho Mu Omega Chapter and DC Pearls III Foundation maintain web sites
that contain information about the Chapter’s service projects and the Foundation’s programs
and activities.
From time to time, we may videotape or photograph the chapter’s service projects and
Foundation’s activities. For the photo(s) or video(s) of someone under the age of 18 to appear
on our web page or in a television broadcast, we must obtain written permission.
Your child will not be identified by name in photos published on the web or broadcast on
television. Personal information about your child is never posted nor is information indicating the
physical location of your child at any given time other than general participation information
about an activity/event at a particular chapter program or service project.
