COLOR-COATED POSTS SHALL HAVE A GALVANIZED COATING (BWG 10 WITH G90 GALV; SCH. 80 WITH
ASTM A-123 GALV.), FOLLOWED BY A ZINC-PHOSPHATE PRETREATMENT AND A MINIMUM 76 m DRY
THICKNESS COLOR POWDER COATING.
ALL GALVANIZING AND GALVANIZING REPAIRS SHALL BE DONE ACCORDING TO 719-01, TYPE III.
SIGN PANEL MOUNTING HARDWARE AND THE FINISH FOR FASTENERS SHALL CONFORM TO 730-22.
ASSOCIATED SPLICE HARDWARE SHALL BE AS SUPPLIED BY THE MANUFACTURER.
A 28 GAUGE KEEPER PLATE IS USED BETWEEN THE TWO SLIPBASE PLATES FOR BOLT RETENTION.
THE KEEPER PLATE SHALL BE FABRICATED FROM ASTM A-563, G90 HDG SHEET STEEL.

THE SLIP-BASE CASTING SHALL BE MADE FROM ASTM A-536 GRADE 65-45-12 DUCTILE IRON, GALVANIZED
PER ASTM A-153 (CLASS A). A 28 GAUGE KEEPER PLATE IS PLACED BETWEEN THE TWO SLIPBASE PLATES
FOR BOLT RETENTION. THE KEEPER PLATE SHALL BE FABRICATED FROM ASTM A-563, G90 HDG SHEET STEEL.
SIGNPOSTS SHALL BE 63.5 mm NOMINAL PIPE SIZE, BWG 10 OR SCHEDULE 80, PRODUCED FROM STRUCTURAL
STEEL PER TABLE 1 . BASE POST STUBS SHALL BE 76 mm NPS, HOT-DIP GALVANIZED STEEL.
BWG 10 SIGNPOSTS SHALL HAVE A THREE STAGE COATING CONSISTING OF A MINIMUM 275 g/m GALVANIZING,
A ZINC-PHOSPHATE PRETREATMENT AND A MINIMUM 12 m POLYESTER CLEAR COAT. SCHEDULE 80 SIGNPOSTS
SHALL BE GALVANIZED PER ASTM A-123.

POZ-LOC U-BOLT SIGN MOUNTING PIPE CLAMPS SHALL BE USED TO MOUNT SIGN PANELS. PIPE CLAMP CASTINGS
SHALL BE ASTM B-26 OR B-108 ALUMINUM ALLOY A444.0-T4 OR 356.0F WITH A SLOT TO HOLD A 7.9 X 32 mm
LONG FULLY THREADED HEX BOLT AND A GALVANIZED STEEL SELF-LOCKING HEAD NUT.
AN S-1 SOIL CONDITION SHOULD BE ASSUMED. S-1 INCLUDES SANDS, GRAVELS AND SILTS (AND THEIR MIXTURES)
WHICH EXHIBIT PENETRATION VALUES OF 9 OR MORE BLOWS PER 305 mm USING A STANDARD 136 kg DROP HAMMER
AND A 457 mm FALL. SHOULDER MATERIALS ARE INCLUDED IN THIS CATEGORY.
