Its home base is Zurich (Zürich) Airport (ZRH). Founded in 2002 after Swissair, Switzerland’s
former flag carrier, went bankrupt. Subsidiary airline of the German airline Lufthansa
(with which Swiss International Air Lines is a Star Alliance member).
Its headquarters are at EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg (one of its two focus cities, with Geneva International Airport) near Basel, Switzerland; also has an office at Zurich Airport in Kloten, Switzerland.
Its registered office is in Basel. Uses the IATA Code LX that it took over from the
Swiss regional airline Crossair (SR was Swissair’s code).
Its ICAO code is SWR, which it took over from Swissair (Crossair’s ICAO code was CRX) so as to maintain international traffic rights.
