Sustainability is key to the future of preserving and protecting large tracts of land in Africa. It is a combination of guests staying at our lodges, together with partnerships on various different levels, that enables us to pursue our vision.– Luke Bailes

SINGITA IS COMMITTED TO SAVING AFRICA'S WILDERNESS
We’ve been preserving African wilderness for
the past two decades. Through an
exceptional safari experience with 12 award-
winning lodges and camps across South
Africa, Tanzania and Zimbabwe, Singita is
able to partially fund the protection and
preservation of over a million acres of
pristine land and existing wildlife
populations, as well as helping to create
economic independence within local
communities surrounding the reserves.
Travellers choose to stay at Singita because
of the expansive space and beauty of the
reserves, limited guest and vehicle numbers,
extraordinarily consistent game viewing and
the exceptional care that is taken of each
guest during their stay. When guests depart
after a Singita safari, they are transformed for
life, satisfied in the knowledge that they’ve
made a contribution to the legacy of Africa.

CONSERVATION AS A WAY OF LIFE
Built upon a 100-year purpose to preserve
and protect African wilderness for future
generations, Singita has been championing
conservation in Africa from the very
beginning. We achieve this with large-scale
projects in wildlife management and
protection, reserve and ecosystem integrity,
sustainable tourism practices and community
development.
Through a sustainable conservation model
that helps balance tourism with conservation
in all regions in which we operate, Singita’s
ethos of “touching the earth lightly” is no
longer just a forward-thinking principle; it is
imperative to our survival, and that of the
land, wildlife and communities under our care.

Tucked into the banks of the Sweni River, this intimate lodge is a hidden jewel that provides a bold, new African context for contemporary design, architecture and food. Exuding glamorous attitude, Singita Sweni’s seven suites - including a pool suite for families or honeymoon couples - are hidden in the trees, and guests have private access to 33,000 acres of the Kruger National Park. Gold and bronze ore, polished mud, and gleaming recycled timbers add texture, splashes of vibrant colour are inspired by beetles, chameleons and birds’ wings, while neutrals draw in the light.

PREPARING FOR YOUR JOURNEY
A packing guideCotton clothing in neutral colours is recommended for game drives and bush walks. It is advisable to avoid white and dark colours as they tend to attract bugs. If it rains during a game drive, waterproof ponchos will be provided. No formal wear is required at any of our lodges.
Weather is an excellent guide to what to wear:• October – April: Casual summer clothes (shorts and cool shirts)
and a warm jersey/sweater for the cooler morning and eveningtemperatures
• May – September: Casual light clothing and a very warm parka/jacket for the very cold mornings and nights
To ensure a comfortable safari experience, we recommend bringing the following:• Comfortable walking shoes/track shoes/hiking boots for walks; and
sandals to wear around the lodge.• Swimming costume/bathing suits, sun block, sun hat, sunglasses, lip
balm, mosquito repellent. (The latter two items are provided but youare welcome to bring along your favourite brand if you prefer.)
• Video camera, camera, binoculars, spare memory cards.
Health requirementsSingita Sweni Lodge is situated in a malaria-risk area; it is therefore essential that you consult your medical practitioner regarding anti-malarial requirements prior to travel.

WEATHER AND TEMPERATURE
Best t ime to go on safari Southern Africa is a year-round destination. Traditionally the dry winter months (April to October) are best for game viewing, due to the shorter grass, lack of foliage and the absence of water which forces the game to concentrate around the remaining sources of drinking water. Annual rainfall, usually in the form of short afternoon thunder showers that clear up within an hour, occur from December to March. Many species give birth to their young around the start of the rains, so the bush is alive with newborn animals.
Average* Seasonal temperature ranges
Spring (Sept - Nov) Autumn (March - May)Low 15°C/59°F Low 19°C/66°FHigh 36°C/96°F High 32°C/90°F
Summer (Dec - Feb) Winter (June - Aug)Low 22°C/72°F Low 8°C/46°FHigh 39°C/102°F High 28°C/82°F
*The above temperatures are the monthly average.
