General guidelines for selection of play equipments.Check or determine the number of children playing in a park at a time.Ensure there are adequate equipments so as to avoid overuse.Select items to cover all age groups of children.Select diverse range of items for optimum use.It is advisable to a arrive at your budget after cheking out the above requirements..Provide at least 5 feet of clear space between each equipment for the children to run & move freely .In case of swings ensure that there is a gap of at least 10 feet in front and back.For children between 6-months and 4-years, provide a separate play area with items specially designed for them.Sufficient seating arrangements must be provided in each park for elders who accompany the children. All play equipments should be surrounded by a soft shock absorbing surface [generally sea sand ,rubber flooring & gravel could be used ]
