SURF SPORTS To write an annual Surf Sports report that will be short and would do justice to what has been achieved this season at Cudgen SLSC is going to be very difficult. But here goes! Even before the ‘summer surf season’ kicked off, our ever-increasing numbers of Pool Rescue competitors showed how they can mix it with their opposition to come away with several Branch champions to kick off the season. The team continued to excel in other major carnivals with a handful making representa-tive teams. Big congratulations goes to Ni-cole Warne our Pool Rescue Manager for her work and effort into building our numbers within the Pool Rescue Team and for the management of the team throughout the season. Thanks also to Rod Jones for the coaching clinics carried out at Banora Pool for those who attended. Our surf board riders represented us well throughout the season. Places were consistently within the top four at all carnivals with spe-cial mentions going to under 17 Country Champions Kelly O’Callaghan and Louis Hampson. Kelly also came away with bronze in the under 15 short board at State Championships and Kai Onley came away with silver in the open short board at State. Warren Boyd and Jason Pearson both coming away with medals at Country. Sofie Boyd and Elise O’Callaghan were also an integral part of the surfing team mak-ing finals. As the summer surf season approached, we saw a handful of com-petitors start to show interest in competing at one of the nation’s premiere events, the ‘Coolangatta Gold’. With 3 teams and 2 individ-uals entering the event, which is a first for our little country club on the Far North Coast, we started to cement our pathway for the com-ing season. The competitors who took part in the ‘Gold’ not only did themselves proud but made Cudgen proud to call them our own. The efforts of our competitors were showcased by our Masters athlete Nadi Canning who took out the Elite Female short course event. Putting in a gruelling effort for 3 hours 33 minutes and 16 seconds with a convincing win by over 6 minutes to the next competitor.
After the ‘Gold’ the next major competition on the cards was the World Titles in the Netherlands which saw Cudgen’s only 2 competi-tors, Harry Klouzal and Luke Chaffer making finals at the event. A great result against the world’s best.
Our own Cudgen Carnival in December was well represented. With the points tally going to Cudgen with our nearest rival ‘Byron Bay’ nearly 300 points behind, again it was encouraging to see a big contin-gent of our competitors taking part. I want to thank those who tire-lessly put in big hours to make sure that our carnival ran successfully. Christine Boyd and her team for the food prep, the officials, water safety crews, first aiders and set up crew. Thanks also to the carnival and safety committees who assisted with making it as successful as it was. A special thanks to John ‘Harbo’ Harbison, not only was he on the beach at 6am carting all the gear down but he carried out water safety duties and then stuck around at the end and packed up everything with a handful of people. This season has certainly been one of great achievements and out-standing performances, and you can’t help but acknowledge the won-derful efforts of the whole club especially the competitors who trav-elled to South West Rocks for the NSW Country Championships. With the controversy that lingered over all our heads from the results of last season, Cudgen competitors committed to winning the point score convincingly even before leaving for the carnival. A few weeks out from Country the team assembled to ensure we were all on track to take the cup from our arch nemesis and winners for the past 6 years ‘Byron Bay’. With a packed program and a record number of competitors, the an-nouncers were all but calling names of Cudgen competitors in every event from the under 8’s to Masters. It was obvious after day 1 as we led the point score that Cudgen was about to create history. With the enormous efforts from the under 17’s male and females to compete in their own age group then backing up to compete in 19’s and Opens. While sheer numbers helped us to victory, some outstanding perfor-mances from key competitors saw our stakes rise rapidly over the weekend. But it was in the team’s events where we demonstrated almost total domination over our rivals. Cudgen seniors secured a trifecta in the beach relays winning the Un-der 17, Under 19 and Open event in both male and female divisions. Wins in the premier team event, the Taplin Relay were also recorded in Open Male and Female, and U17 and U19 Male. The U15 Male and Female Cameron Relays also fell to Cudgen. Cudgen competitors have had the title in our sights for the last 12 months and ended up with more than double the points of our nearest rival. 1st Cudgen Headland SLSC 1105 2nd Sawtell SLSC 541 3rd Byron Bay SLSC 473 Branch Titles were contested again with a well-represented Cudgen team. We saw the under 17’s compete in all eligible age categories which guaranteed our 601 points at the end of the carnival. This result sat us convincingly in front for our nearest rivals.
DIRECTOR OF SURF SPORTS
Director of Surf Sports cont’d State at Swansea Belmont saw an increase in swell and with the car-nage of lost craft due to swell size all weekend, we were lucky to make finals in many events. Some great individual and team results in all age groups were achieved. Our final carnival for the season saw us at North Kirra for the Youth, Masters and Open Aussie Titles. Team Cudgen was well prepared physical and mentally for the carnival of the season. Outstanding achievements at the Youth Aussies saw Hayley Smith crowned as the under 15 Australian Board Champion which backed up her Country and State Title. In the Masters Adam Mills and Jan Gielis both came away with gold in flags and Jan also earnt herself a gold in board. Jo Colja, Jenny Curnow, Susan Eke and Sue Hawkins narrowly missed out on a medal in the 200years beach relay coming away with 4th place. With Cyclone Debbie fast approaching the Opens program saw some cut throat qualifying. There were numerous races cut short or can-celled resulting in Cudgen competitors having a short program for individual events. Team events saw Josh Jones and Rory Matthews bring home a silver medal in the under 17 board rescue. Teamed up with Kai Onley the boys made the final in the board relay. The under 17 female surf team consisted of Mette Klinkers, Chantal Luxton, Anthea Warne and Shaylla Young coming away with 6th place in the final. We were very fortunate to have Scott McCarthy as our head coach for another season. Scott’s skills and dedication were paramount in the success of Surf Sports in and out of competition. He is highly valued by all members. Ken Small and Paul Smith also spent numerous hours on the beach assisting Scott and the team. These trainers bring with them many years of experience and knowledge. A huge thank you to our coaching staff. I have been very fortunate to have the support of an experienced executive and committee throughout the past season. Paul Kenny (treasurer), Kim Holdom (secretary) and Dwayne Thuys (team manag-er) have been active in their support in the running of surf sports and competition. A huge thank you goes to Narelle Chaffer (Competition Officer). Without Narelle’s endless assistance and many hours of her time throughout the season the surf sports section would not be as strong as it is today. From entering all competitors into carnivals and getting the information out to everyone in a timely manner her dedi-cation to the club and the section is much appreciated. As we all know lifesaving and the different sections can’t progress without fundraising, Denise Young has worked tirelessly throughout this past season to ensure the funds have been coming in so that we can run our section. With the assistance of her fall-back girls, Shaylla, Chloe and Sarah, Denise has done an outstanding job. We look for-ward to more exciting fundraising ventures leading into the next sea-son. With Aussies in Perth and World titles in South Australia next season, Denise will need a lot of assistance throughout the year to assist the team to head to these carnivals. A job well done Denise. It’s also important to recognise the support of the rest of the club, particularly the efforts of the Board members who have helped me get through this first year as Director of Surf Sports. The Cudgen Head-land Old Boys Association has been a great supporter of Surf Sports and I thank them for their continued support throughout the season. Thanks also goes to the rest of the club’s supporters and sponsors who throughout the season has directly or indirectly assisted with the surf sports team. Looking forward to next season, Cudgen members will continue to be a part of a reputable sports program which should increase our com-petitive edge and promote the camaraderie throughout the club. Congratulations to you all and looking forward to next season.

The 2016-2017 season was a successful one financially for the clubs Surf Sports group. Income for the 2016/17 year was $41,185.84 while Expenditure was $41,636.85, an overall a small deficit of $451.01.
Fund raising was the major source of income through the efforts of our mem-bers co-ordinated by Denise Young. Denise and her team raised $12,240.85 through raffles at the Kingscliff Hotel ($3,879.12), Sunday raffles at the Club
($3,713.68), raffle conducted around the time of the December carnival ($1,176.00) and BBQs at A-Mart Sports and Bunnings ($3,472.05).
The Old Boys Association once again assisted competitors with donations totalling $5,000.00. These funds were used to assist in the transport of competitors and gear to Country & State Championships and $3,500.00 from this donation has been put aside to assist with the purchase of a container for gear stor-age. Once again we are grateful for the assistance provided by the Old Boys.
The Competitors Levy was held at $100.00 for the season. The levy covered entry to the Country, State and Australian Cham-pionships. This offer was taken up by 39 competitors. The cost of entries to the 3 Championships was $7,632.70. Surf Sports subsidy for these entries was $2,687.50
Surf Sports provided assistance to 5 members for swim coach-ing fees totalling $2394.00.
We also provided subsidies for our members in the Interbranch Team ($1,875.50), NSW Country Trans Tasman Team ($1,500.00), Pool Rescue Development Tour of New Zealand ($250.00), World Championships in Holland 2016 ($600.00) and Coolangatta Gold Entries ($923.00). Subsidies provided to members for 2016/17 season totalled $7,592.50.
Subsidies were also made available to Officials who attended the Country and State Championships. The amount of $1672.00 was paid to assist these officials with travel and ac-commodation costs.
Surf Sports finished the year with a balance of $14,058.48 with outstanding invoices of $1198.00 to be finalised early in the new financial year. Taking into account the “quarantined” funds of $3,500.00 put aside to purchase a container and a couple of smaller items the 2017/18 season will commence with an effective balance of $10,218.40.
With the 2018 Australian Championships in Perth and World
Championships in Adelaide in the coming season, this will place
additional pressure on our financial resources. Increase in rev-
enue through fund raising, and other avenues is going to be
critical to ensure that our club continues the improvement in
our competition that it has demonstrated over the past 12
months.

Meetings for the season were well attended with meetings taking place on the 1st Tuesday of the month.
The notice boards both up and down stairs were maintained by the Assistant Secretary, Keith Kennedy, with very current information and upcoming events, minutes of meetings, and relevant SLSNSW, SLSA Circulars. Surfguard was also well used as a medium of disper-sal of information.
What a season completed! The results of last season are due to largely to the efforts of Coach Scott McCartney and the backing of the Surf Sports Committee under Matt Bell. Both Scott and Matt will elaborate on the past season in their respective reports.
The major sponsor was once again the Cudgen Old Boys and we sincerely thank them for their contribution.
My thanks go to Matt Bell as Director, Paul Kenny for paying the bills and Denise Young for heading the fund raising and Narelle Chaffer for submitting the carnival entries.

A call last season for more junior officials has been answered, nine members attended a level 1 Surf Sport Officials course in August and a further seven in November. Of these one has completed the practi-cal assessment and gained their award. I encourage the remainder to complete the practical and gain their award next season. At present we have twenty five Surf Sport Officials.
Officials attended eight far north coast branch carnivals this season, four junior, two senior, one combined plus the branch pool rescue championships. Officials also assisted with the Cudgen Classic, Bruns-wick Masters events and the club championships.
At major carnivals Cudgen had thirteen officials at the NSW Country championships at South West Rocks, ten at the NSW State Youth, Masters and Open at Swansea Belmont and twenty one at the Aus-tralian Youth, Masters and Open at North Kirra.
Our officials were appointed to senior positions at these major carni-vals with Gavin Marshall and Peter Allsopp sectional referees at Country. Jenny Kenny was Deputy Carnival Referee for the NSW State and Australian Youth and Area Referee for the NSW State and Aus-tralian Open championships. Paul Kenny was Area Referee at the NSW State Youth and Sectional Referee at the NSW Open along with Special Projects at the Australian Youth, Masters and Open champi-onships. Cudgen also had two scrutineers and one first aid at the Aussies.
Cudgen were also represented on the international stage, Harry Klou-zal and Peter and Val Connell were officials at the World Champion-ships in the Netherlands.
Thanks to all surf sport officials for their commitment in supporting our competitors to attend carnivals and help in fund raising activities.

The 2016/2017 season started off strong with a number of athletes repre-
senting Cudgen at the Coolangatta Gold. Nadi had the stand out result
after winning the Open Female Short Course Title but it was also great to
see Bailey Copland (individual) and three other Cudgen Teams compete in
the race.
The effort and consistency put in by the Cudgen Athletes day in day out is
great to see and has been evident in their results. The squad has continued
to grow each season due to their positive attitude and successful results.
As it’s great to see the squad growing each year it wouldn’t work without
the continued support and coaching from Ken Small and Paul Smith, so
thankyou for all your time and effort you have put in.
Representative Teams
- Cudgen had a large number of competitors represent the Far North Coast
Interbranch Team where we again took out the country shield, everyone
from Cudgen raced extremely well and each year FNC are getting closer
and closer to the ‘Big 4’ branches.
- During January athletes from Cudgen travelled to New Zealand to com-
pete for the NSW Country Team in the Trans-Tasman Series. The Cudgen
Athletes represented the club to the best of their ability and came away
with the Trans-Tasman Title (Country Team undefeated in New Zealand).
- Luke Chaffer represented NSW at the State Team competition where he
performed extremely well, taking out the Ironman race and helping NSW
win the Youth Titles and coming in a close second overall to QLD.
Competition
Country Titles.
Country Champions! Cudgen turned up to South West Rocks for the coun-
try titles in full force this year and with one goal- to win the Country Title.
Everyone raced extremely well, with athletes racing in multiple age groups
to try gain as many points for Cudgen as possible. End result……. WE
SMASHED IT.
State Titles.
Large swells at Swansea made conditions difficult but our Cudgen athletes
handled the challenge and raced amazing. We had multiple finals appear-
ances in almost every age group and brought home a bag full of medals
ranging from the U15s through to Masters.
Australian Titles.
The Youth and Masters athletes raced at Kirra this year in the Australian
Titles. It was great to see everyone supporting each other and racing to
the best of their abilities.
The future is bright at Cudgen with the youth making multiple finals ap-
pearances and bringing home a Gold Medal thanks to Hayley Smith in the
U15 Board Race.
The Masters continued this medal run by cleaning up once again in tricky
conditions.
Due to the floods the Australian Open Titles were cancelled, but before the
cancelation Rory Mathews and Josh Jones won silver in the U17 Board
rescue.
Even though the weather wasn’t favourable it was awesome to see that
Cudgen has a great culture on the beach when cheering and supporting
their team mates.
On behalf of the athletes I would like to say thankyou to the water safety
crews, officials, age managers, parents that helped out and the Old Boys
for their support. We couldn’t have done all the above without your help.
Also a special thanks to Matt Bell and the surf sports team who has done
an amazing job (and have put in a lot of their own time) this season to help
us achieve our goals.

There are two main thrusts in Scrutineering. They are Lifesav-ing gear and competition equipment.
Inspections and re inspections were carried out commencing in August. All lifesaving gear was checked for safety and cur-rency and this included IRB’s, trailers, vehicles, rescue boards and tubes ,1st Aid rooms and kits, patrol and signal flags etc. The gear was of a high standard and only one re inspection of gear was required.
Competition scrutineering was undertaken at Branch conduct-ed carnivals both Juniors and Seniors. We also conducted competition scrutineering each Wednesday afternoon (4pm to 6pm) during November and December in the Cudgen boat shed with this resulting in virtually all competition gear being looked at prior to major carnivals.
Cudgen supply the majority of Scrutineers in the FNC Branch with Joe Young, Gavin Marshall, Max Harris and Kim Holdom, and my thanks go out to them for their effort over the season.
In a first for Cudgen and the FNC Branch, Max Harris and Kim Holdom were appointed as Scrutineers at the Australian Championships.

A goal for Surf Sports this year was to win the Country Shield. This was achieved by the amazing effort made by all competitors. 72 Junior members competed in the NSW Country titles in a combined 580 events. They were joined by 61 Masters and Opens who entered a further 1046 events. An average of 17 events per Senior/Master com-petitor! Congratulations to all involved. A victory well deserved.
A huge thank you goes to those people who continue to provide assis-tance to our competitors. Namely the Old Boys, IRB crews, officials, first aid officers and the Surf Sports Committee.
Finally, a thank you to our coaches Scott McCartney and Ken Small for
their continued commitment to training our competitors.

POOL RESCUE MANAGER There have been many individual and team successes throughout the Surf Life Saving Australia 2016 Pool Rescue season, starting with FNC Branch Championships in May last year with Mia Taylor, Sophie Watson, Chantal Luxton, Joseph Warne and Harry Klouzal awarded Age Champions. A clash with NSW and QLD State championship dates meant we were disallowed to attend the Qld titles on the Gold Coast in July. The SLSA Australian Championships were held on the Gold Coast in August 2016 and Cudgen were the top NSW Country Club; 5th out of all NSW clubs and 15th in the Overall pointscore! An excellent achievement, highlighted by some terrific team perfor-mances - U14/15 Girls (Smith, Luxton, Watson, Warne) claiming Bronze in the 4x25m manikin relay and narrowly missing out on a medal in the 4x50m obstacle relay . Seeing these four share success on the podium was a very proud moment. The younger team of Taylor, Bell/Whilborg, Raymond, Crawley also performed well. Anthea Warne U15s, Harry Klouzal and Russell Zahn (masters) also won individual medals with Anthea also representing NSW in the Interstate Championships. Furthermore, Harry proudly represented the club at Rescue 2016 in The Netherlands, picking up some bling in his age category.
Some athletes extended their Pool Life Saving season and competed at the RLSSA Australian Pool Life Saving Championships, Melbourne in January 2017. Training and persistence paid off with individual medals to Hayley Smith, Bree-Anne Wihlborg, Lewis Warne, Chantal Luxton and Anthea Warne . A number of the squad were part of the RLSSQ State Team and also collected medals in team events, eg re-lays, SERC. (incl Sophie Watson, Joey Warne).
Based on overall results and placings, three athletes were selected into the RLSSA Australian Barracudas Representative Teams: Chantal Luxton (Silver Barras), Joey Warne, Anthea Warne (Junior Barras)
Anthea and Chantal have been selected into the RLS Australian Youth Team for the 2017 Commonwealth Festival of Life Saving in Durban, South Africa in August. RLSSA is sending an Open and Youth team to Durban, with 5 males & 5 females in each team.
None of these extraordinary achievements could have been achieved without the support of Surf Sports, JAC, Branch, SLSNSW, SLSA, Life-saving, club sponsors, the Club, the Board and the Executive. Special thanks to the Cudgen Headland Old Boys Association Inc for financial assistance this season. Your generosity is very much appreciated and reduced the financial burden of competing for many families. Finally, I’d like to thank the athletes and their parents for putting time and effort into Pool Rescue and our Pool Rescue Coach Rodney Jones (TH&C) for all the hours of training plus the coaching and assistance he provides to all our athletes during competition. Our next season is already upon us with Branch Champs in early June, State in July and Aussies in August (Adelaide).

NSW COUNTRY TEAM ~ WINNERS OF TRI SERIES TOUR OF NZ
Excerpt from SLS NSW website -North Coast Athletes Impress at Interbranch
Representative surf athletes from the Far North Coast team enjoyed a bright start to summer over the weekend as they showcased their skills at the 2016 NSW Interbranch Championships held at The Lakes SLSC on the NSW Central Coast.
In the overall point score after two days of competition, Sydney Branch claimed back the Interbranch Title ahead of Sydney Northern Beaches with host Branch Central Coast rounding out the podium.
There was more joy in the Country Standings where Far North Coast were crowned champions the fourth consecutive year (fifth overall).
Luke Chaffer (Cudgen Headland) was a standout performer for the Far North Coast, winning the Open Male Surf Race which was the first event of the Championships and got his team off to the perfect start. He contin-ued his form throughout the competition to claim second in the Open Ironman, and third in the Open Male Board Race.
Cudgen Headland athletes were dominant in the water events with Olissa Onley cruising past the finish line in first place in the U13 Female Board Race and Lily O’Sullivan finishing second in the U13 Ironwoman.
“It’s an awesome carnival and we always look forward to travelling down and representing the Far North Coast,” said Far North Coast Coach and Open athlete Scott McCartney.
“We really set our sights high as a Country Branch and look to improve each year and aim for the top three positions overall but unfortunately we couldn’t achieve that this year.”

Cudgen Club Championships
JAC REPORT We were happy to have registered over 278 nippers for this season
and we welcomed many new families to the nipper’s scene as well as
several families who have transferred from other clubs. We have large
numbers again in the U6 and U7 groups which puts the future of the
club in good hands.
This year we were able to complete all carnivals and the weather
seemed to be on our side each weekend. The competitive season
started with our club’s major fundraiser the Cudgen Classic on the last
weekend in October. Once again we worked with Kozii as our Naming
rights sponsor which led to a successful Lifesaving Event. At each and
every carnival we had more numbers compete than ever before and
this led to the Cudgen winning every carnival that we contested and in
most carnivals we had more than double the points of our nearest
rivals.
That said, winning isn’t everything and it is the way in which our Nip-
pers compete that is worth mention. They always get in and give it
their best effort, they do it with respect for the officials and coaches
and they have always displayed great sports-personship which has led
to the development of great friendships with their other competitors.
Of special mention is this year, after 6 yrs of trying we were able to
secure the NSW Country Title in conjunction with the seniors and Mas-
ters, a fantastic result.
As a club we have actively been recruiting parents with appropriate
qualifications to assist in water safety, training and officiating. It is
great to see that our older age groups have also been very keen to
complete the SRC and bronze courses and many have even shown
great interest in the IRB training program.
The Junior Activities Committee greatly appreciates the time and
effort put in by these phenomenal volunteers and special thanks once
again go out to our coach Phil and the other nippers coaches for their
work in training these keen athletes.
I would also like to personally thank the executive committee of Vice
President Matt Eddy, Treasurer Julie French, Secretary Shannon Gray
and Registrar Christine Boyd for their hard work and dedication. They
have been critical in insuring the amazing success we enjoyed this
season.
To our age managers Matt Bell, Dave Hampson, Doug Warne, Darren
French, Adam Mills , Marty Fairweather, Carsten Loemacher, Adam
Poole , Joe and Allison and their Assistants, I thank you on behalf of all
the nippers for your great work in teaching your groups how to be
better nippers and organising them week after week..
I would like to thank the committees that have worked hard on our
Nipper events, our travel arrangements for Branch, Country and State.
They have done amazing job organising a number of club culture
building events.
I would like to also acknowledge all of those parents that have helped
out with setup/BBQ/Canteen/Watersafety/Presentation/Carnival/
Nipper Parent Events, entries and the list goes on. As you have heard
me say many times: Many hands make light work.
I would like to also congratulate our Nippers. They always turn up
week after week and go out there and have a go. They have impressed
me with the dedication, behaviour and the respect they have shown
to their Age Managers and the club.
I would like to lastly acknowledge those Families that are graduating
from Nippers today. The Bell’s who have been fantastic contributors
to Nippers over the years with both Matt and Lisa taking up important
positions in the club and giving many hours of there time. The Craw-
leys who although not residents of Northern NSW they are always
heavily involved in club events and culture building activities and final-
ly the Taylors who have also held numerous positions in the club but
have made the BBQ a great success and a critical money raiser for the
club.
And finally at Cudgen SLSC we believe that it is our duty, to not only
keep the beaches safe but to also give back to our local community.
We do this through nurturing community spirit and by focusing on
building strong local relationships.
We had another fantastic year nurturing the future lifesavers of our
community.

NIPPER FUN
Another wonderful season was had by all, with a mild winter the swims came with a certain ease. Some beau-tiful bright sunny mornings were enjoyed by our dedicated swimmers.
Excellent turnouts to our main carnivals throughout the year, although results were not what we had expected from previous carnivals, the team spirit and enthusiasm was there.
A hearty congratulations to Steven (Smithers) Wilson for taking out the point score with Belinda O’Donoghue coming a close second, and an equal third place going to Sam Patterson + Jason Pearson. With 100% attend-
ance, although surprising because of holidays, she still managed to get snaps of herself getting the job done, goes to Suzie Hawkins.
Our soups for the season bear comparison to a Master Chef series in competitiveness rivalling the quest for the BEST SOUP of the season. Com-ing down to a split hair decision in first place was Sam Patterson just towing the line in front of a Miss Trudy Rae. And always setting a spectacu-lar standard, Mrs Janice Gielis coming in third. Unfortunately, a new award was presented, being the worst soup EVER going to myself Tommy Gielis.
A big thank you to Darren French for captaining the IRB and water safety. Without these efforts and other volun-teers, the swims cannot happen.
Three Life Memberships were given this last year, a massive thank you and congratulations to Michael Player, Janice Gielis and Jason Pearson for all their commitments to the WSC.
Looking for bigger numbers for the 2017 season – everyone is welcome, let your friends know. Tell them we are a fun and happy club and would love to see some new faces.
Australian Titles will be held on the Gold Coast in late September and we will need all the support we can get.
All the best for the new season –
Thomas Gielis – BOSS CRAB
It is my pleasure to submit the President’s report on behalf of the Cudgen Headland Old Boys Association.
We have just completed another successful season as the “Old Boys”.
The Riverview Hotel raffles provided our major source of income, $16,346 (net). These raffles are conducted Friday night and Saturday lunch times. A big thank you to Old Boys member and mine host Tony Foran for allowing us to conduct raffles each week and for the donation of a slab of beer.
My sincere thanks go to the raffle stalwarts Keith Kennedy, Max Harris, Dave Lofts, Jack Hall, Harry Pearson.
Donations to Cudgen Headland SLSC are itemised in the Treasurers Report with the big ticket items being assistance to the Competition Team (1st NSW Country Point Score, 14th NSW State Point Score, and 24th Australian Champion-ships Point Score) and funding to purchase a container to store equipment and also to be used to transport equip-ment to Perth for next year’s Australian Championships. Other funding was used to assist members chosen attend the North Coast Academy of Sport, members selected in the NSW Country Team and Under 18 Pool Team to tour New Zealand. We have also assisted the Club with a loan of $4488 to pay the architect fees for the new plans.
On the social scene, the Christmas in July function and the Christmas get together were well supported.
The recent major flood / ex cyclone Debra in the Murwillumbah and lower Tweed area resulted in many Old Boys including wives and partners pitching in to help those businesses and residents being severely impacted, thanks guys!
My personal thanks to Keith Kennedy for his role as Secretary/Treasurer and raffle co- coordinator, for another year completed and my fellow Committee members.
