Recommended by the IOOS Modeling and Analysis Steering Team (Mooers, MAST Chair)
The testbed will allow scientists to share models, observations and tools needed to elucidate, prioritize and ultimately link models so they can be used in an interoperable manner.
The objectives are to:•Evaluate and improve research models;
•Evaluate/improve models already in operational use;
•Assess system performance of models;
•Develop a blueprint, and facilitate the transition of promising models/tools/metrics to Federal operational centers;

1. $4 million grant from NOAA, through IOOS, to SURA
2. One-year demonstration project to create a testbed to evaluate models and improve marine predictions of coastal inundation and hypoxia
3. 64 individuals, 20 Universities, Industry and direct involvement by the primary Federal operational Centers
4. Goal: to determine “best practices” for comparing models, identify the metrics, and develop a blueprint for transition to operations
