Clothing Ministry We are still taking donations for the clothing
ministry beginning at Oaklawn. This initiative will roll out on September 27, during operation
inasmuch. We need items of every size and description, for
both males and females, for any age, from infants to senior adults. Blankets or other
nursery items would be useful as well (i.e., bibs, wash cloths, towels). Please ensure donated items are free of holes and stains. Donation
boxes will be in the sanctuary lobby and in the Gene Swaim building between now and
AWANA is back in session! The new time is Sunday Evenings at 5:00pm, until 6:30pm.

Christmas at Oaklawn It’s time again for Christmas at Oaklawn! This year, we will be having a spectacular one-‐night event for our friends, family, and
neighbors, followed by delicious hors d’oeuvres. We will present music, drama, and even have a visit from Santa! We are looking for volunteers to help assist with these activities, so please fill out the enclosed insert to let us know where you

9/17 Barbara Ki rby (Shannon Broadnax’s mother) has severe back pain. At this point only surgery will help medically.
9/17 Derek Laws (Shannon Broadnax’s nephew) has Toxoplasmosis. He is waiting for the doctor to decide on a treatment plan. It will be similar to chemotherapy.
9/17 Mary (friend of Tommie Bowen) Is a breast cancer survivor, but now has lung cancer, and is on her second type of chemo. Pray for healing.
9/24 Mik e “Pee Wee” Jones (submitted by Paul Raker Jr.) has been diagnosed with ALS. Please keep him in our prayers.

Book Signing Mary Lou Dean will be signing her books on

Food Pantry Thank you for all of the donations that have
come in for our food pantry! We have already been able to provide meals to those
in need! Please continue to support this awesome ministry. Remember, no glass
jars, no out of date food, and we don’t need vegetables at this time.

5th Sunday Benevolent Offering Beginning in November, we are going to be
taking up a special offering on the 5th Sunday in months that have five. This is
specifically to supply a benevolent account that is to help people in need. Our first
collection will be on November 30.
New Members Class Our class for new members, “Discovering
Oaklawn”, has had its date changed to November 16. If you have joined the
church, but have not taken the class, please be aware that it is a requirement for
membership. It will be directly after the service, and lunch will be provided.
Security Team If any of our members would be willing to
volunteer to be part of a security team, please speak to one of the deacons as soon
as possible.
Concealed Carry Class Oaklawn is planning to host a class for
obtaining a concealed carry permit starting Saturday, November 29. If you are
interested in attending, please see Jim Warren as soon as possible.
