• To raise awareness of dementia• To help put people in similar
circumstances, and with similar interests, in touch with each other.• To help set up new social or activity
groups for those who are interested.

What will we deliver?• Practical tips on living with dementia.• Information about dementia.• Social Networking.• Emotional Support.• Reduce social isolation.• Reduce the stigma associated with dementia.• A forum for advice in conjunction with health
and social care professionals.

What are our Key Objectives?• Develop support groups and activities • Raise awareness of dementia• Evaluate this and other models of support• Work in Partnership to complement existing
services• Identify gaps in Stockport

Where are we now?We have 3 groups up and running now –
• Walking Group Tues am at Cale Green Park• Singing Group Weds pm at Parish Centre
Cheadle Hulme• Walking Group Thurs am at Vernon
Park

Where are we going?• Looking to establish Memory Cafés throughout
Stockport – 1st one in Spey House in Sept• Linking with BME groups in Stockport to raise
awareness of dementia as opposed to normal ageing – event on 24th Sept
• Working with Young Onset Group to offer support• Linking with the Dementia Treatment Clinic to
explore post diagnosis support groups
