In summary, He can be described as an amazing environmentalist, event planer, idea generator, and debater. His main interests are Business, Environment, Leadership, and Media.
Steven’s passion:
My enthusiasm for diplomacy, world economy and environment truly shape who I am today. Firstly, I enjoy debating and diplomacy world proven by my intense involvement in various debating championship and model United Nation conferences for more than half of decade both in the UK and in my home country. I personally enjoy build network and use my diplomacy skills to argue about world issues that excite everyone. My passion truly develops how I articulate and express the way I think of the world today. As a result, I have some amazing world class experiences: I am the Vice President of Leeds United Nation Association at the University who will run a conference in 2013; I have been the adjudicator for British Parliamentary international debating competitions; I was the 1st winner of English debating national championship held by the University of Indonesia Jakarta in 2009 and English debating nationwide competition held by the Bogor Agricultural Institute inn 2010. Moreover, some competitions gave me awards of the Best Speaker reflecting my great passion in this field.
The second and third aspects have some crossovers in shaping my interest, i.e. Economy and Sustainability. I believe an economy has to be sustainable in order to survive in the future since we have to be responsible for our next generation. In order to do that, some financial regulations’ loopholes have to be spotted correctly to avoid any forthcoming depression in a country particularly in the first world. Additionally, a country has to concern about conserving its environment to make sure it is sustainable, ranging from forest, agriculture, waste management, climate change, etc.
Steven’s upcoming project:
There are two biggest of projects this year for me related with economic sustainability and intercultural awareness. Currently I am the President of ISIC 2012, which stands for Indonesian Scholars International Convention. The Embassy of Indonesia for the United Kingdom supports the event which will be on 9-‐11 November 2012, London, the United Kingdom. This 12th annual convention’s main theme is green economy for sustainable development, also endorsing the United Nations’ big theme of sustainability through UNSC Rio+20 conference in 2012 and UNEP. At the closing award ceremony, it will have some highlights comprising of abundant cultural performances, traditional heritage exhibition, and cultural fashion show. Finally, another crucial purpose of the event that can directly impact community is a charity fundraising programmes for poor children in rural areas of Indonesian archipelago who under threat of hunger and poverty. Currently, I am the LUU Activities Executive’s Culture Representative. My role is to treasure LUU’s diversity with over 30,000 members from various nationalities, religions and cultures. My next big project is the annual International Cultural Festival 2013 that collaborates various communities and societies to be involved celebrating their differences in our multicultural comforting atmosphere. The festival itself will last for one-‐week with more than a hundred events, some highlights are: The Food Festival, Cultural Extravaganza, the International Film Festival, British day, Lunar Celebration for Far East countries, and Cultural Forum.
