Who: Steel Wolf ranksas one of Long Island’slongest-lasting rockbands. From their bio:“After taking their band’smoniker, Steel Wolf, fromLithuanian folklore in1982 and releasing theirfirst album (the now out-of-print, cassette-onlyrelease EternalDamnation) and asked tofill in the “style” blank inthe 1986 Good TimesA-Z Local BandDirectory, band leaderMark Adomaitis, thenage 18, used the words‘killer’ and ‘explosive.’

“Twelve years later ina Good Times review of Steel Wolf’sBoozer Friendly album (now stream-ing on Youtube), J. Corbo wrote “Ashining example of Steel Wolf’suncanny ability to both shock andamuse is from [the song] ‘AuralSects at Gun Poin’… [it’s] all about… comical, vulgar, insightful and cut-ting edge lyrics, abrasive guitars andthunderous drums. Steel Wolf blendspunk anachronisms with Lithuanianmythology.”

“Eleven year later, also in GoodTimes, in a review of Steel Wolf’s

Embracing Mainstream Successalbum (currently on iTunes), TonyRettman wrote that ‘Steel Wolf is aband of longstanding Long Islandrockers who have played everywherefrom the birthplace of punk, CBGB,to the Lithuanian heritage campNeringa, located in Vermont.Although the group is proud of itsLithuanian heritage, it is obvious bysong titles such as ‘Spread The LoveMayonnaise’ and ‘ShopliftingBananas’ that it still finds time to pileon the laughs … (Guitar and vocals)straddle the fence between the riff-heavy sounds of 70s British hardrockers and the raw urgency frompunk rock days of yore.’

This year, in celebration of threedecades of rockin’, Steel Wolfreleased Variety Pack (free down-load at steelwolf.bandcamp.com)which included new song contribu-tions not only by current membersAdomaitis (lead vocals, percussion),

Al Kezys (drums, vocals), GregSzlezak (bass) ,and Paul Naronis(guitar), but also from past membersEd Kezys and Mike Jaillon, andpotential future member ClarkAdomaitis (Mark’s son), playing amyriad of instruments. It also con-tained the final work done with seminal bassist Ellis Spanos beforehis untimely passing in March. The bulk of the album was recordedat Recording Engineers Institute inIslandia.

“Due to this anniversary album,a new turnstile approach in regards

to which members perform inconcerts – such as the 2012 XIV

Lithuanian Folk Dance Festival held in Boston, as well as the 2013Long Island Music Festival – wasbrought to life, much to audiences’delight.”
