September Of 1878 Stanford joined
Charles Follen McKim and William Rutherford Mead to start the business McKim, Mead and White.
White designed a long series of houses for the rich, very rich, and various religious buildings.

EACH PARTNER BROUGHT THE BUSINESS TO EXCELLENT LEVEL.McKim, Mead and White and brought specific and identifiable strengths to the firm. McKim was a designer with good understanding of Early American buildings and decorative arts, White was a skilled artist, capable of creating fantastic details. Mead mostly ran the office.
