Creating Equations Lesson Plan
Name: Ms. Peper
I. Class: Algebra 1 Grade Level: 9th
II. Purpose / Objectives:
SWBAT…… Create, solve and write expressions, equations and inequalities in
numerical form as well as into a word problem.
Identify and Analyze correct and incorrect processes and solutions.
III. Activities
10- 15 min Go over the quiz.
65 min Stations. Students will have 10 minutes at leach station with a maximum of 30
second transition times. When the time is up a timer will go off signaling students to rotate to the
next station. Each station will have groups of two to four depending on the class size.
1. Creating and simplify expressions
2. Create and solve equations (viable or nonviable)
3. Create and solve inequalities (viable or nonviable)
4. Write word problems from numerical form
5. Analyze the solution (what’s right/wrong in the process)
6. Explain what the solution means
IV. Evaluation / Assessment
Quiz scores will help guide and adjust instruction as well as student understanding and
direction.
Each station will have a designated answer key by the teacher’s desk for self check

Teacher will walk around the room assisting students and answering questions while also
observing student understanding and misconception to be corrected.

VII. Differentiating for student needs
Students have the choice of four out of the six problems to complete at each station.
Problems at each station are created according to what students have the most difficulty
with in order to give them the necessary practice they need and also to correct the
identified misconceptions.
