SummaryThissurveyaskedparentstoevaluatesixpossibleoptionsforastarttimechangefortheMasconometRegionalSchoolDistrict.SomeoftheoptionswouldresultintimingchangesfortheTriTownUnionelementaryschoolsinBoxford,Middleton,andTopsfield.Theseoptionswerepresentedwithpotentialimplementationimpacts.

OptionA(Nochange):Onthewhole,parentspreferrednochange,buthalfofparentssaidthattheyopposeOptionA.

OptionBandOptionCbothproposedamodest(approx.15minute)changeintheMasconometscheduleandamodestchange(10minute)intheelementaryschedules:

OptionB(Tightenschedulesandadd3buses)garneredmodestsupport.

OptionC(Neighborhoodstopsandtightenschedules):waswidelydislikedbymostparents.

OptionD,OptionEandOptionFallwouldmoveMasconomettoalaterstartandfinish.Onaverage,parentssharethesameconcerns,particularlyamongMasconometparents,overwhatwillhappentoathletics,extra-andco-curricularactivities,ExtraHelp,childcare,commutes,schedules,etc.However,evenwiththeseconcerns,someoptionsweremorefavorablyregardedthanothers.

OptionD(Elementaryfirst,Masconometsecond)garneredmodestsupport,evenfromelementaryfamilies.ThesurveyshowsthatmoreMasconometparentsopposethisoptionthanelementaryparents.

OptionE(K-12busing)wasstronglyopposedbyparents(particuarlyelementaryparents)and,overall,receivedverylittlesupport.

OptionF(doublebusing)receivedmodestsupport,withnotableconcernsaboutcost.
