STEWARDSHP THOUGHT
“And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.” - Mark 3:25
Do your parish ministries complement each other or do they compete against each other? Is your parish “one Body of Christ” or a bunch of little, separate ministries controlled by human ego? The goal of all parish ministries is to bring people to Christ. All of our parish work should be for the glory of God’s name, not our own name.

CHURCH at HOME COMBINED COLLECTION
Thank you for your generous support last week to the collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development! Our parishes raised a total of $ 276.00 to support those on the margins who are living in poverty in the United States. If you missed the collection, it’s not too late to give! Visit www.usccb.org/nathionalcollections, and click on “How to Give” on the left.

Please welcome Father Bernie Gaeta, Pastor Emeritus of St. Aloysius, East Liverpool and Immaculate Conception, Wellsville. He will be the celebrant for this Sunday’s Masses in English.
The Book of the Innocents is at the main entrance of St. Paul Church, and will be in St. Patrick Church for the following two weekends. This is a way to honor the lives and names of children who died for any reason, over the years. Feel free to browse through it, pray for those mentioned, or add a name to the book. The book is circulating in Columbiana County.
We need Bingo Helpers. Bingo at St. Paul Parish helps to support our school and parish. We need volunteers who can work once a month or more to help keep this source of income viable. My sincere thanks to those who have faithfully sacrificed their time to help us with Bingo.
Next month, our Improvement Envelope at St. Paul will have a new look! The back of the envelope, which has been blank, will list our latest projects which are being addressed. I ask that you be generous, without neglecting your current offerings, so that we can proceed with our financial obligations.
Be sure to keep in touch with the Body of Christ during the summer and the months ahead. Check online for a church in the area you will be traveling or vacationing. God bless you. I will see you in a week.
With love and prayers,
Father Bob Edwards

Dear Friends,
“But no one can enter a strong man’s house to plunder his property unless he first ties up the strong man. Then he can plunder his house.” - Mark 3: 27
On the feast of Saint Justin, the martyr, June 1, Pope Francis said in his morning homily at Casa Santa Marta, “In the world today, all humans, not only Christians, are being persecuted, because the Father of all persecutions [the Devil] cannot bear that they are the image and likeness of God. So he attacks and destroys that image.” (See https://aleteia.org/2018/06/01/pope-explains-why-satan-is-attacking-not-only-christians-but-all-people/) In today’s gospel, we can see that Jesus is the “strong man”, who entered the lives of people in his day to cast out the Devil. We cannot allow ourselves to become so spiritually weak that the Devil can overpower us. That is why the late Father Gabriel Amorth, an exorcist in Rome who died at age 91 in 2016, said that the best way to guard against evil was to live one’s faith. He meant that Mass and Communion, Confession and prayer are the usual means to live a holy life. We have the means to allow Jesus to be the “strong man” in our lives – and no one can overpower him!

Holy Innocents Grief Prayer Father in heaven, you invite all who have lost a child – born or unborn – to place their burdens in your hands. Accept their sorrow as they grieve the loss of their child.
Sustain them as they are overwhelmed with grief’s agony.
Help them to believe that their child lives now with you and give them the hope that someday they will be together in heaven.
Until then, please grant them the grace to see the light of eternity as they face the darkness of death. Settle their souls and help them find peace.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

SAINT ANTHONY IN OHIO
Two holy relics of Saint Anthony of Padua will visit the Diocese of Youngstown and the Diocese of Cleveland from Friday, June 8 to Sunday, June 17. Father Mario Conte, a friar from the Basilica in Padua, will bring two first-class relics of the beloved Saint Anthony of Padua to the state of Ohio.
The relics will visit churches in Alliance, Aurora, Canton, Fairport Harbor, Hubbard, Lorain, Massillon and the city of Youngstown. Father Mario Conte will travel with two precious reliquaries. One reliquary contains layers of Saint Anthony’s skin and the 2nd reliquary contains a fragment of one of his Floating Ribs.
