Summertime, and the livin’ is easy”…except for the cook at those hot season barbecues. I’m not talking about the cartoonish male figure wear-ing a funny apron and taking delight in toss-ing raw meat on the grill with gusto. Rather do I refer to the more gentle lady who cooks rou-tinely and more rightly deserves the title. She knows all about making sure that there is plen-ty of food to go around for the invited guests and how to avoid the dreaded possibility of not having enough.
This weekend we hear the fascinating story of how such an outcome would never befall Jesus. He would simply multiply the food and there would be plenty. Even for thousands of unex-pected guests. I trust that for most Christian hearers, this story has one implied meaning that goes well beyond the etiquette of hospitali-ty. It points directly to the chief sacrament of the sermons and reflections, treatises and re-treats that have been dedicated to it: the Holy Eucharist. The reason is simple: the Eucharist is Christ. The limits of this small space pre-clude any lengthy addition to these learned ef-forts.
There will be no Mass on Monday, May 28th due to the Memorial

A MESSAGE Dear parishioners: I hope that you are enjoying these summer days with your family. I understand that you need to spend quality time with them, but it seems to me that you have forgotten to visit our parish. I have not seen you too often around here and it saddens me. Please remember that you can come during the week to enjoy our Mass. You can come, pray before the presense of our God and be part of the Eucharist. I also wanted to remind you that you have to update your information for your church en-velopes. We have to make sure that you are included in our parish registration list. We will have our ministers helping with registra-tion after mass. I hope to see you soon, remember that we are counting on you.

El verano, y el livin 'es fácil "... a excepción del cocinero en esas barbacoas de la estación ca-liente. No estoy hablando de la figura mas-culina caricaturesca que lleva un delantal di-vertido y se deleita en tirar carne cruda a la parrilla con gusto. Más bien me refiero a la se-ñora más amable que cocina de forma rutinar-ia y con más razón merece el título. Ella sabe todo acerca de asegurarse de que haya sufi-ciente comida para los invitados y cómo evitar la temida posibilidad de no tener suficiente. Este fin de semana escuchamos la fascinante historia de cómo un resultado así nunca le sucederá a Jesús. Él simplemente multiplicaría la comida y habría suficiente. Incluso para miles de invitados inesperados. Confío en que para la mayoría de los oyentes cristianos, esta historia tiene un significado implícito que va más allá de la etiqueta de la hospitalidad. Se-ñala directamente el sacramento principal de los sermones y reflexiones, tratados y retiros que le han sido dedicados: la Sagrada Eu-caristía. La razón es simple: la Eucaristía es Cristo. Los límites de este pequeño espacio im-piden cualquier adición prolongada a estos esfuerzos aprendidos.
UN MENSAJE Buenas, tenía tiempo de no hablar con uste-des, espero que estén disfrutando de estos días de verano, claro es un tiempo de la fami-lia y que tenemos que pasarlo con ellos, pero me entristece algo, parecen que se han olvida-do de su parroquia, porque no los he visto a menudo por aquí. Ustedes saben que también entre la semana tenemos la eucaristía con el fin de que nos podamos encontrar y compar-tir ante la presencia de Dios un momento de oración. Ustedes son muy importantes para nuestra comunidad, es por eso que su ausen-cia se nota en nuestras celebraciones. También quería recordarles que tienen que actualizar su información en la registración de la parroquia, es muy importante porque es la única manera que nosotros tenemos de ase-gurar que ustedes son parte de nuestra parro-quia. Por eso durante este fin de semana y el próximo tendremos algunos ministros ofre-ciéndonos el servicio para que ustedes puedan actualizar la información en nuestra parro-quia. Espero verlos pronto, recuerden que la comunidad cuenta con ustedes.
