Our meetings are at lunch
Great decisions are made over a plate of pasta!
ReviewWe started with an audit of the school and
how Eco-Friendly we already were, we recorded results and put them on our website
Students from the School Council completed the audit.
Action Plan
The action plan shows all the things we want to achieve and how we plan to do it. Each time something is achieved we update it
Full plan on website
Monitoring
To get us started, a local Eco-Architect helped us audit the school‘s electricity use.
• With her architectural drawings of the school we were able to monitor how much electricity we used.
Monitoring
We placed a record sheet like this in every single room in the school every week for a month.
Electricity monitoringWe checked whether lights and other electrical things were on or off
We recorded the results
Electricity MonitoringThe results
were put into an Excel document for each floor of the school.
Our Environmental Review
From this we were able to calculate how much electricity we use in the school each week.
The calculations were carried out using Microsoft Excel
The results were recorded on the school plan
...planted new trees when others had to be cut down
...renovated the Eco Mud Hut
Outside school we...
...look after our pond area
...care for our nature area, we’re growing pumpkins
...have litter monitors
Inside school we... ...recycle paper
... save water from being wasted
We also...recycle all of our food waste
And have plants inside school as well as outside
What else are we doing? We have student
monitors to prevent litter dropping
Water monitors to check taps are turned off
We recycle as much as possible
We plan eco-work into our curriculum, planning samples on next slide
