STATIONS OF THE CROSS are on Friday nights at 6:30 p.m. All are invited to attend.
THE OBEDIENCE OF ABRAHAM AND JESUS
God tested Abraham by asking not for an ordinary sacrifice, which would have been a partial burning with the meat divided between God and the people and eaten by those who sacrificed, but for a holocaust, a total burning of the sacrificial animal. This type of sacrifice consecrated the entire offering to God alone. This is what God was asking of Abra-ham in offering his only son, Isaac. When Abraham demonstrated his obedience, that was enough. This story from today’s scriptures foretells the completion of the blood sacrifices of the old covenant in the new covenant: the blood of God’s own Son, offered to us on the cross and in the Eucharist. Abraham’s obedience foreshadows the obedience of Jesus to God’s promise of salvation. The obedience of Abraham is rewarded in the birth to him, through Isaac, of many nations. The obedience of Jesus is rewarded in the salvation of all people for all time.

ST. CHRISTOPHER OUTREACH HELP LINE
We continue to make food available for our parish-ioners in need.
During the following weeks of Lent, we wish to ask each household to bring one food item with them to Mass and place them in the baskets at the entrance alcove of church. This will help us greatly to prepare our monthly baskets especially with Easter coming.
We are low on tomato sauce and spaghetti, cans of Chef Boyardee, chili, various beans, tuna, fruit and meat like chicken, Vienna sausage and spam. We are also very low on peanut butter and jelly. We regularly use packs of grits, oatmeal, ramen noodles, macaroni and cheese, rice and pasta mixes and regular size boxes or bags of cereal. We are also out of bags of beans and rice, soups and drinks like Kool aid, lem-onade and tea bags.
Your generosity is and always will be appreciated es-pecially by those who ask us for food and help.
If you are in need of assistance, call 831-7691 and leave a message.
