Being a baptism helper is an easy, rewarding ministry that you can do during the Mass you
regularly attend or an occasional Saturday morning.
We have a serious need for volunteers who can help carry the candles and oils, prepare
and set up before Mass, and assist the families of children being baptized. If you would like to
help, please contact Joan Summers at [email protected] or 281-391-4758 ext. 437.

Stewardship Reflection: Sync your calendar As the new school year starts, we shift back to what most of us call "normal life." Our schedules shift from summer activities to school activities like homework, sports, and CCE. The list goes on and on. But how about our prayer life? We can get overwhelmed with many things to do quickly and easily, but the thing we should always be mindful of is the time we spend one-on-one with our Lord. Yes, Sunday Mass is not negotiable, but our prayer time during the week compliments our Sunday experience. I would like to propose a challenge to all of us: try this week to start every activity of your day with a prayer. If you forget at some point, don't worry; you will see how different that particular situation will be from the ones you did pray about. If we don't have time to pray, we are in serious trouble. That means we need to look at our calendar and arrange our priorities starting with The One that gave us the chance to be alive . . . God! "Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God." -Philippians 4:6

Reflexión de mayordomía:
Sincroniza tu calendario
Filipenses 4,6

Catholic Scripture Study
Part Two THE PLAN OF GOD
FOR MARRIAGE AND THE FAMILY Marriage and Virginity or Celibacy
Virginity or celibacy bears witness that the Kingdom of God is that “pearl of great price”, preferred to every other value. It is so by the singular link that it has with the Kingdom of God. The Pope notes how the celibate person becomes spiritually fruitful, the father and mother of many. However, as fidelity at times becomes difficult for married people, requiring sacrifice, the same happens to celibate persons, and their fidelity fortifies the fidelity of married people.
These reflections on virginity or celibacy can enlighten and help those who, for reasons independent of their own will, have been unable to marry and have then to accept their situation in a spirit of service.
Part Three THE ROLE OF THE CHRISTIAN FAMILY
Family, Become What You Are Pope John Paul II says that the role that God calls the family to perform derives from what the family is. Each family’s summons cannot be ignored, and that specifies both its dignity and its responsibility: “Family, become what you are.” As a result, the family must go back to the “beginning” of God’s creative act to attain self-knowledge in accordance with its inner truth. In God’s plan, the family has been established as an “intimate community of life and love.” (cf Vat II, Gaudium et Spes, #48) The family has the mission to become what it is, a community of life and love. In the final analysis, looking at it in such a way the essence and role of the family are specified by love. Hence, the family has the mission to guard, reveal and communicate love. It must be a reflection of and a sharing in God’s love for humanity and the love of Christ for the Church, his bride. The Holy Father says that we must therefore go deeper into the unique riches of the family’s mission. This recent Synod emphasized four tasks for the family: 1) forming a community of persons; 2) serving life; 3) participating in the development of society; 4) sharing in the life and mission of the Church.
I - FORMING A COMMUNITY OF PERSONS Love as the Principle and Power of Communion The family is a community of persons. Its first task is to live faithfully this communion in an effort to develop an authentic community of persons. Without love, the family is not a community of persons and it cannot grow to perfect itself. The love between husband and wife, and, more broadly, the love between members of the same family, leads to an ever more intense communion, the very soul and foundation of the community of marriage and the family.
