Introduction
Thank you for choosing Cadaxo’s SQL Cockpit Premium Version. You now have a tool in at hand
that will help you with your development and support tasks. The SQL Cockpit Premium is an
extension of SQL Cockpit Standard, and all the tools that that you found in SQL Cockpit Standard
are also available in the Premium Version. Additionally, in the Premium Version, you have the
ability to make auditable, traceable data changes, directly in your productive system. This
documentation explains the functionality of the SQL Cockpit Premium Version.
In this documentation we want to – according to our motto “ … there is also an simple way” – give
you an understanding SQL Cockpit Premium Version.
Disclaimer
The following explanations apply to the complete distributed software package and all
subsequent updates.
To guarantee the best possible application and execution, clients are responsible to test the
product on their system, since they are most familiar with their IT landscape. In case a client
requests a system critical change in the software, the client is responsible to perform adequate
testing on their quality management system.
Clients are responsible for data changes and its consequences on their productive system. They
are aware of the effect and risks involved and take care that only adequately qualified and
authorized personnel operate SQL Cockpit. Additionally, clients are responsible that
authorizations don’t compromise the internal control systems and clients are themselves
responsible for subsequent compromises in data security.
Support procces
Should problems arise with SQL Cockpit you can simply dispatch a support request. This
functionality is available to all users with administrative authorization, directly from SQL Cockpit.
Simply click on the button. With this, the required information (executed SELECT, Version,
etc.) is submitted to Cadaxo.

With Microsoft Outlook it should work automatically, but if you are using a different mail client you
might need to send an email to [email protected] with the information from the window
pasted into the email.
User interface
In SQL Cockpit Premium data can be changed. This is done in the result sets by clicking on the
change button in the update section or right-click and “Edit” when in the cell or the complete list.
If the result set is empty and you have the authorization to add new lines, you can go the
Premium pop-up with right-click and “Insert lines” or with the Insert button and from there
add a new line to the table.
x

The update section is separated into three areas – Edit-, changelog- and ticket sections.
The top area is the edit section. Here you can edit data sets. Left-bottom is the ticket section.
With a ticket number and a comment the data change can be allocated to a ticket. Right bottom
is the changelog section where it is logged what changes have been made.
After changing and successful saving of the information, the data changes are immediately visible
in the result set.
Initial position
In principle everything that is possible with the Standard Version, is also possible with the
Premium Version. There is a limitation with regards to the SELECT statements:
- JOINS and aggregate functions are only possible in sub-SELECTS.
- In the SELECT-statement all key fields have to be provided.

Edit section
Changes to existing lines:
In the edit section you can, in principle, change all data fields. Exceptions are key fields and
special fields for which changes are not enabled or appropriate. By entering a value and pressing
Enter, the value in a field is changed and is recorded in the changelog. In the background the
change is logged in a further 4 lists through which a auditable, transparent log is created.
By double-clicking on a line in the changelog you are navigated to the relevant line in the edit
section and vice versa. Thereby, changes can be easily found and checked.
The key fields and fields that cannot be edited in ALV (e.g. Strings > 128 characters or packed
fields) are distinguished by colours. This is also the case for fields for which no change
authorization exists. Basically, the first row is the row ID which is compatible with the changelog to
enable easy comparison of data sets. The legend button explains the colours used in
ALV
By right-clicking on a row header, detail information of field type and authorization is displayed.

Deleting existion lines:
With this button you can delete an existing data line. The line to be deleted should be
marked beforehand. It is also possible to mark multiple lines. The deletion is shown with “D” in
the field “Change-Indicator”.
Adding new lines:
With this button you can add new, empty lines to the table. It is possible to add either one
or ten lines at once via the drop-down. At this point the key fields must be filled. There is feature
to simplify the manual entry of values: it is possible to specify the number range with which a field
is to be filled. Specified fields are then automatically filled from this range.

Copying of fields:
With this button it is possible to copy lines. Only the lines to be copied should be marked
before the button is pressed. Next, the key fields need to be filled, since they have to be unique.
In the changelog the new lines are indicated with the Change indicator „I“ after pressing the Enter
key. Additionally all the key fields are also displayed in the changelog.

Ticket section
By supplying a ticket number and a comment the update process is completed and can be saved.
It can be specified in the administrative area if this compulsory. In case a Solution Manager is
integrated it is also possible to verify the number.
Changelog section
In the changlog section you can directly follow data changes. From here it is also possible to undo
changes with the “Undo” button. With the “Undo All” button it is possible to undo all
changes made up to this point. The new and the old values are saved in the changelog.
When saving, a warning pops up to avoid frivolous data manipulation in your system and to again
point out the risks involved in making such changes.

Mass data changes
Data fields can either be changed singularly or collectively. The following 2 options exist for
collective data changes:
- Function „replace each value“: all fields in a column with a specific value can be changed.
- Function „set all values“: all values in a selected column can be changed to a specific
value.
Settings
In the settings there is now an additional tab „SQL Cockpit – Update“. Here the administrator can
change settings relevant to the update process.
The following options are available:
x
SQL Cockpit Update Add-on User Guide Page 11
- „Ticket required“ – the user can only make changes when providing a ticket number.
- „Comment required“ – the user can only make changes when providing a comment.
- „Write Change Document“ – all changes of the user is saved to a document.
- Disclaimer – the user is shown a message about the changes (O = Once, D = Daily, A =
Always).
- „Send Mail“ – when this function is active an email is sent tot he provided address when
a change is made. The title, path and name of the attachment can be provided.
- „Solution Manager Integration“ – if this option is active, the Solution Manager is
integrated into SQL Cockpit.
Authorization
The use of the change functionality can have far reaching effects on the consistency of your SAP
system. For this reason authorization should be granted carefully.
The authorization for data changes is differentiated from the authorization for analysis in that all
tables and fields have to be explicitly granted to a user. A general authorization for all tables and
fields is not possible.
The authorization management is called from within the administrative area .
x

Next the roles are edited. The tables are added to these roles. At table level the authorization for
update, insert and delete can be provided. By double-clicking on a table the fields are shown. At
this point you can specify if singular or mass data changes are enabled.
With all fields for a table can
be activated or locked.
The next step is to assign rolls to a user.
The new authorization is applied after restarting the SQL Cockpit.
With the rolls can also be transported to another system.
Logs
The data changes made in SQL Cockpit Premium are logged in 5 locations.
In the System log (only rudimentary header data)
x

In the table change history (if activated for a table)
In the Cadaxo Update Log (Transaction /CADAXO/ULOG) (also available from within the
Cockpit admin section ( ) – here the data is encrypted to hamper
falsifying of data.
Solution Manager tickets (if activated): here the header data are stored.
Email: a detailed email with all changes is sent to the email address provided in the
admin section.
With these comprehensive recording the traceability and overview of all data changes are
guaranteed.
