Components
Speech transfer systems provide assistance for clear communication where normal speech is impaired by use of glass, a security screen or other similar barriers.

Werecommendthatinstallationiscarriedoutbyaqualifiedengineer, adheringtorelevantstandards.
Checkthecontentsoftheboxtofamiliariseyourselfwiththecomponents.
Thestaffmicrophoneandamplifiershouldbeinstalledonthestaffsideofthecounter.Thecustomerspeakerandmicrophonekitsshouldbeinstalledonthecustomersideofthecounter.
Follow all relevant instructions in the following order:
1. AmplifierInstallation(seepage7).2. Microphone&SpeakerKitInstallation(seepage8).3. AmplifierSetup(seepage12).4. UsingtheSystem(seepage14).
Installation Instructions
A basic toolkit recommended to install the system will include:
• Tape Measure• Pencil or Marker Pen• Cable Ties• Trunking
• Screwdrivers(FlatorBlade2.5mm and Phillips Head PH2)
• Battery or Mains Drill• Drillbits: 2mm, 3mm, 5mm and 7mm• Cable Tacking Gun (10mm)• WireCutters/Strippers

1. Placetheamplifierunderthestaffcounter,ensuringthatitwillnotobstructstaffwhentheyaresitting.
2. Markthefourfixingpointsfortheamplifierunderthecounter.
3. Drillandfixtheamplifierinplaceusingthesuppliedscrews.
4. Installtheamplifier’spowersupplyclosetoapowersocketoutletusingthesuppliedmountingbracketandfixingscrews.

Microphone & Speaker Installation
1. Place a speaker pod on the customer side of the counter top, ensuring it doesnotcauseanobstruction.
2. Place a mouse microphone on the customer side of the counter top, ensuring it does not cause an obstruction and is as close to customers as possible.
3. Placeaspeakerpodonthestaffsideofthecountertop,ensuringitdoesnotcauseanobstruction.
4. Placeamousemicrophoneonthestaffsideofthecountertop,ensuringitdoesnotcauseanobstructionandisasclosetostaffaspossible.
5. Speakerpodscanbeeitherfreestandingorfixed.Movetostep8ifyoudonotwishtofixthepodstothecounter.
6. Use cable management holes in the counter to run speaker pod and mousemicrophonecablestotheamplifier.Iftherearenotalreadycablemanagementholes,drillsuitablelocationsneartherearofboththestaffandcustomersidesofthecounter.
7. Iffixingtheunitstoasurface,removethetopofthepodstogainaccesstothefixingpoints.Markthetwofixingpointsonthebottomofbothspeakerpods.Thenmarktwocableholestobedrilled,oneforboththecustomersideandthestaffside.
8. Ensuretherewillbeaccesstoretrievethecablesthendrilltheholes.
9. Fixthepodstotheirrespectivecounters.
10. Feedthewiresthroughthecablemanagementholes.
11. Routeallcablingneatlytotheamplifierlocationonthestaffside.

1. Placethestaffpodonthestaffsideofthecountertop,ensuringitdoesnotcauseanobstructionandisasclosetostaffaspossible.

4. Speakerpodsandstaffpodscanbeeitherfreestandingorfixed.Movetostep8ifyoudonotwishtofixthepodstothecounter.
5. Usecablemanagementholesinthecountertorunthestaffpod,speakerpod,andmousemicrophonecablestotheamplifier.Iftherearenotalready cable management holes, drill suitable locations near the rear of boththestaffandcustomersidesofthecounter.
6. Iffixingthepodstoasurface,removethetopofthepodstogainaccesstothefixingpoints.Markthetwofixingpointsonboththebottomofthespeakerpodandstaffpod.Thenmarktwocableholestobedrilled,oneforboththecustomersideandthestaffside.
7. Ensuretherewillbeaccesstoretrievethecablesthendrilltheholes.
8. Fixthepodstotheirrespectivecounters.
9. Feedallwiresthroughthecablemanagementholes.
10. Routeallcablingneatlytotheamplifierlocationonthestaffside.

1. Positionthescreenmountedmicrophonestem’sonthecustomersideofthecountertop.
2. Markthe2fixingpointsand1cableroutereadyfordrilling(seethediagrambelow).

3. Drillpilotholesforthefixingsandacableholeifneccesary.
4. Feedwiringthroughthecableholebacktotheamplifierandfixthemicrophoneinplaceusingthesuppliedscrews.
5. Fix the microphone head to the screen using the double-sided pad supplied.
6. Placethestaffpodonthestaffsideofthecountertop,ensuringitdoesnotcauseanobstructionandisasclosetostaffaspossible.
7. Place the speaker pod on the customer side of the counter top, ensuring it doesnotcauseanobstruction.
8. Speakerpodsandstaffpodscanbeeitherfreestandingorfixed.Movetostep13ifyoudonotwishtofixthepodstothecounter.
9. Usecablemanagementholesinthecountertorunthestaffpodandspeakerpodcablestotheamplifier.Iftherearenotalreadycablemanagementholes,drillsuitablelocationsneartherearofboththestaffandcustomersidesofthecounter.
10. Iffixingthepodstoasurface,removethetopofthepodstogainaccess

tothefixingpoints.Markthetwofixingpointsonboththebottomofthespeakerpodandstaffpod.Thenmarktwocableholestobedrilled,oneforboththecustomersideandthestaffside.
11. Ensuretherewillbeaccesstoretrievethecablesthendrilltheholes.
12. Fixthepodstotheirrespectivecounters.
13. Feedthepods’wiresthroughthecablemanagementholes.
14. Routeallcablingneatlytotheamplifierlocationonthestaffside.

AmplifierSetupOuramplifierprovidesfullopenduplexcommunicationandiscompatiblewithallofourspeechtransfersystems.Itfeaturesindividualdisplaysforstafforcustomeradjustmentsandindividualfaultlightsforeasyfaultdiagnosis.

To enter engineers mode, simultaneously press and release the following buttons within 20 seconds of cycling the power:

WhenpoweredandinnormaloperationalmodetheamplifierwilldisplayVolumeInLED1assteadygreen.
WhentheamplifierisswitchedoffusingtheOn/Off button, audio is muted andLEDsarenotilluminated;pressanybuttontoturntheamplifieronagain.
To adjust the staff volume level:• Press and hold the Volume In (+) or (-) buttons to increase or decrease the
level.ThecorrespondingLEDbarwillshowthevolumesetting.To adjust the customer volume level:• Press and hold the Volume Out (+) or (-) buttons to increase or decrease
thelevel.ThecorrespondingLEDbarwillshowthevolumesetting.
Fault Diagnosis LEDs
• Volume In LED 8 will stay red if there is a faultwiththestaffmicrophone.
• Volume Out LED 8 will stay red if there is a faultwiththecustomermicrophone.
• VolumeInLED8willflashredifthereisafaultwiththeloop(i.e.abrokenaerial).
Using the System
For best possible performance:
1. Ensurethecustomerandstaffvolumesareturnedcompletelydown.2. Adjuststaffvolume(VolumeIn)toacomfortablelevel.3. Increasecustomervolume(VolumeOut)untilfeedbackisheard.4. Decreasecustomervolume(VolumeOut)untilfeedbackisjusteliminated.
Once you have followed the above steps:
1. Staffpodsareoptimallypositioned30cmfromastaffmember.
2. Checktheamplifierisfullyfunctionalbyensuringthered‘fault’lightisNOTdisplaying.
Thesystemisnowreadytouse.

Factory Default Settings
Toreturntheamplifierthefactorydefaultsettings:
1. Unplugthepowersupplyandthenreconnectit.
2. PresstheOn/OffbuttonandVolumeIn(-)buttontogether,thenrelease.
3. The Volume In LED bar will have all LEDs illuminated, while the Volume OutLEDbarwilldisplaythefirmwarerevisionnumberinafixedpatternofLEDs.Thisindicatesthatdefaultsettingshavebeenrestored.

Symptom Possible Fault Action
There is no power detected through the amplifier (and there is power at the socket).
1) Power jack not plugged in or faulty.
2)Plugfusehasblown.
3) Faultypowersupplyunit.
4)Faultyamplifier.
1)Checkpowerjackisfirmlypluggedin.
2)Replacefuse.Ifitblowsagain,replacethepowersupplyunit.
3)Replacethepowersupplyunit.
4)Replaceamplifier.
The red LED is illuminated on front panel.
1) Constant red LED:Stafforcustomermicrophonefault.
2) Red LED comes on after speech:Inductionloopfault.
1) Ensure microphone is wired correctlyandfirmlypluggedin. Try alternative microphone to ensure portisworking.
2) Ensure induction loop connector is wiredcorrectlyandfirmlypluggedin.
I can hear interference through speakers (buzzing / whistling / hissing).
1) Unscreened or poorly earthed third party equipment is being used incloseproximity.
2)Internalvolumegainsettohigh. 3) Incorrect power supply being used.
1)Switchoffanythirdparty equipment to identify the source of interference.
2)Accesstheamplifierengineersmodetoadjusttheinternalsettings. 3) Ensure that our grounded power supplyunitisconnected.
Amplifier goes into feedback.
1)Internalvolumegainsettohigh.
2) Microphone positioned too close tospeaker.
1)Accesstheamplifierengineersmodetoadjusttheinternalsettings.
2) Move the microphone to a locationfurtherfromthespeaker.
Unit does notgo into power saving mode.
1)Ambientnoiseinareaistoohigh. 1)Switchoffanyairconsystems,desktop fans and or computers to reduceambientnoise.
