Background of the Study
Water-logging is one of the major environmental problems in
the south-western part of Bangladesh
Riverbed siltation along with back water effect due to sea-level
rise and high tide is leading to prolonged water-logging in this
area
Aquaculture also play an important role

Methodology
To carry out this change detection, Landsat imageries from
1973, 1989, 1995, 2000, 2005, 2010 and 2015 were used
Training datasets were generated in ArcGIS environment to
classify the satellite imagery
Supervised classification was done using Random Forest
Algorithm
A post classification comparison or change detection was
followed to calculate transformation of waterlogged area

The study demonstrated that waterlogged area increased by63% (1989), 80% (1995), 247% (2000), 360% (2005), 427%
(2010) and 276% (2015) compared to baseline (1973)
