Washi Tape Christmas Tree\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
We love a good old fashioned Christmas tree, but sometimes it’s okay to add something new or even
just dress up the walls in say the dining room, where the tree may not have a home.
Credit: Brit.Co
Materials:
• Washi Tape: Found at craft stores or
online at places like Amazon.com
Instructions:
• Create a tree out of a few floating
triangles that overlap. No, it doesn’t
have to be perfect; it adds character.
• Next to the stacked triangle tree,
it’s time to put the stacked stripes
tree next to it. Just create levels of
tree branches by stacking the tape
in various lengths.
• Lastly, for the triangle tree, just
create a giant triangle with the tape
and fill in with square ornaments made from the tape, add a trunk and you’re done!
• Perks: easy to peel off and no mess!
Cardboard Christmas Tree Centerpieces\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
This DIY is fairly simple and will add a great touch to the table. Add as many or as few as you like.
These are customizable to fit your style, color scheme, and space.
Credit: HGTV
Materials:
• Cardboard
• Pencil
• Paint or paint pens/sharpies
• Box cutter or scissors
Instructions:
• Lay out the cardboard flat and draw triangles onto the
cardboard. Tall skinny triangles work best here to fit onto
the table, but totally up to you.
• Next, draw a smaller version of the same triangle, next to
the one you just drew.
• Take scissors or a box cutter knife and cut out the triangles.
• Use the scissors or knife to cut a slit into the center of the bigger triangle starting at the bottom and
move up 3 inches or so (depending on the height of the triangle). Next, starting at the top of the smaller
triangle, cut a slit halfway down.
• Slide into the big triangle. This acts as a stable base for the cardboard to stand up.
• Decorate each “tree” with paint or paint pens!

2 Ingredient Truffle Bar\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
Yes, please! What’s a holiday party without a little indulgence? This rich and creamy truffle bar is sure
to end the event on a perfect note of sweetness.
Credit: thesugarhit.com
Ingredients:
• 12 oz best quality dark chocolate
• 1/3 cup double cream
Instructions:
• Lightly grease and line with baking paper a 9
by 3in loaf tin, or similar sized pan.
• Finely chop the chocolate, and add it to a
heatproof bowl, along with the cream. Place
the bowl over a saucepan of simmering water,
ensuring that the water does not touch the bowl.
• Melt the cream and the chocolate together
slowly, stirring gently and regularly. Once the
chocolate is melted, glossy and smooth, pour
into the lined tin and smooth the top.
• Tap the tin gently on a flat surface, to get rid of any air bubbles, and then refrigerate for at least 4 hours
(you may need longer if it’s hot) until set. Turn out and serve with your choice of accompaniments!

• Chives (optional)
• Side note: don’t stop there with the spices if you’re feeling
adventurous! Add in some garlic, sage, or take them a
whole different spice route.

into walnut size balls and place them on a lightly oiled
broiling pan or on a cookie sheet covered with wax paper.

Orlando Bloom
Born in Canterbury, Kent, England, Bloom
got his major role when he was cast as Legolas
in the “Lord of the Rings” film trilogy. This role
opened up many doors for him, and he was cast
in numerous movies, including “Pirates of the
Caribbean,” “Troy,” “Elizabethtown” and “Black
Hawk Down.” Bloom reprised his role as Legolas
in the second prequel to “LOTR,” “The Hobbit:
The Desolation of Smaug.” His talents are not
limited to the big screen: Orlando dove into
Broadway and made his debut with a critically
acclaimed performance as Romeo in “Romeo
and Juliet.” “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five
Armies” is set to be released December 17.
Fun Facts: • Bloom has a tattoo of the Elvish word “nine” on
his right wrist. This is a reference to his involvement
in “Lord of the Rings”: there were nine members
of the Fellowship of the Ring.
• Bloom supports the environment and he is a
part of Global Green. His London home uses solar
panels, incorporates recycled materials and
utilizes energy-efficient products.
• Bloom is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.

Preheat oven to 350F
Slowly warm milk to 127 degrees F.Combine in mixing bowl flour, sugar, salt, and yeast – blend together with paddle attachment until evenly distributed. Add warm milk, and eggs, blend on medium speed until combined. Once combined, switch to the dough hook attachment; knead for 10 minutes on medium speed. Next, divide butter into 12 equal pieces, set four aside for later use. Reduce mixer speed to medium-low; add 1 slice of butter at a time until all 8 have been used. Make sure each addition of butter is blended into the dough before adding the next. Once butter has been completely incorporated, turn mixer speed to medium-high for 2 minutes, then turn mixer off and remove dough from the attachment, then resume kneading on medium-low speed for 7 more minutes. Prepare a bowl by coating with a light layer of oil or butter, and then transfer dough from mixer. Cover with a light kitchen cloth; allow dough to rest for 30-45 minutes, the longer then better. While dough is resting, combine ingredients for spice blend, set aside.
Once dough has rested, divide into two even halves, set one aside. Using a rolling pin, roll dough into a rectangle, about ¼ inch thick. Spread half your reserved butter across the entire surface of the dough, then spread half of your spice blend over the butter, repeat with remaining dough, butter, and spices.
With the long side of the dough closest to you, start with the edge of the dough and roll over onto itself, continue rolling until it’s completely rolled up. Then, cut into 1-inch thick slices using a very sharp knife. Place cut rolls onto parchment lined sheet pan about an inch apart, allow to rest and proof until rolls have doubled in size and are now touching each other – about 1 to 1 ½ hours.
Bake for 10 minutes until lightly golden brown.

somewhat scattered up till now. From the 19th to the 22nd opportunities to earn more money will be a welcome surprise and of course very useful during the festive season when expenses can spiral out of control.

Friendships will be high on your agenda and after the 5th Mars makes you eager to seek out new acquaintances. Venus and Neptune after the 15th usher in a new cycle of spontaneous, creative experiences. Saturn edges into your zone of philosophy the day before Christmas so deeper spiritual issues surface now.
TAURUS (APRIL 20 - MAY 20)The first week of December is excellent with Venus and Jupiter promising luck, gifts and other positive and satisfying events. Mars entering your zone of social affairs after the 5th also highlights your interest in giving back to your peer group and acknowledging their support of you. An excellent close to the year with your ruling planet moving through your zone of career indicating popularity and opportunity to finish the year on a high note.
GEMINI (MAY 21 - JUNE 20)Other people are your focus just now and Saturn,
CAPRICORN (DECEMBER 22 - JANUARY 19)A quiet period can be expected in the first part of the month, with Mercury, the Sun and Venus in your twelfth zone. You could be playing a tug of war between wanting to forcefully present yourself to the world but having to take that much needed timeout. The simple solution is to find a happy balance. Try to keep your feet on the ground. Mars enters your second house of finance on the 5th so it will be all systems go in trying to acquire as much money as you can leading up to Christmas.
AQUARIUS (JANUARY 20 - FEBRUARY 18)This last month of the year offers you a lucky break with Venus, Jupiter, Mars and Sun invigorating you to enjoy this Christmas festive season with friends and loved ones. You could be accident prone after the 5th however so clearly plan your work before rushing madly into haphazard scenarios. You can also be quite irritable as a result of these transits. Mercury, the Sun and Venus highlight just how busy you will be pleasing everyone else. The 6th to the 8th is telling but after the 12th your communication issues ease. Wait until after the 24th to travel if you must. You’ve compartmentalised some of your activities which require integration. This will require some creativity and also the help of friends if you are to complete the tasks you've set for yourself.
CANCER (JUNE 21 - JULY 22)In the final month of the year, Venus, the Sun and Mercury transit your zone of work activities . Changes made in this area can favourably impact upon every department of your life. Being happy in your work routine is essential now, especially leading up to Christmas. Venus entering your zone of marriage on the 11th brings with it exceptional social graces and charms which indeed to others and continue to open doors of opportunity, both socially and professionally.
LEO (JULY 23 - AUGUST 22)The last month of the year shows you have an appetite for lots of work but you may find yourself in the workaholic seat. Don’t forget to give due attention to friends and loved ones as this is the real reason you are working isn’t it? Luck occurs on the 5th with Venus and Jupiter bringing you some brand new opportunity or even a gift. Disputes are likely when Mars enters your zone of marriage. Problems could occur with your health after the 11th so pace yourself and don’t say yes to too many people leading up to Christmas.
VIRGO (AUGUST 23 - SEPTEMBER 22) Domestic affairs and Eclipse some of the other activities you wish to put take of this month but nevertheless the 5th until the 12th should be a period of joyful activities with relatives. You may be tired around the 7th so don't overdo it by making too many promises you can't keep. Playful activities and entertaining interludes with friends occur after the 17 and Christmas should generally bring you some unexpected surprises due to the square aspect of Mercury and Uranus.
LIBRA (SEPTEMBER 23 - OCTOBER 22)Family affairs will obviously take precedence this year and Christmas should be one where you want to plug in to those in your family environment that you have been disconnected from. Creating a more enjoyable home environment is likely. There may be quite an intense energy around the 15th with Uranus and Pluto challenging your domestic and family life but clever communications on your part on the 17th can smooth things over for a more harmonious Christmas.
SCORPIO (OCTOBER 23 - NOVEMBER 21)Fuzzy thinking must be eliminated between the 1st and the 5th. Your decisions will not be clear. You can move forward with contracts around the 5th. Venus entering your second house is lucky for finances and also for beautifying yourself. Clever tactics for finance and commerce should be employed on the 17th. It means that Christmas should be rather intense and edgy especially with Mercury at the right angle to Uranus. Pace yourself carefully in the last week of the year.
SAGITTARIUS (NOVEMBER 22 - DECEMBER 21)Fewer responsibilities will be bothering you as Saturn will be moving near to the edge of your sun sign this month. With this you are likely to want to enjoy some past times or hobbies that you have had to postpone for quite a while. There may still be some business or professional issues stopping you from fully enjoying yourself but the period of the 11th, 17th and 22nd bring to the fore perfect opportunities for travel, fun and some adventure.

ROBYN THOMPSON Balliets Contemporary Buyer: Handbags, Apparel & Accessories
For most of her life she’s been on the
forefront of fashion, and she’s finally living
out her ultimate dream as a contemporary
buyer for the “style-leader store,” Balliets.
Meet Robyn! She got her start in fashion
design at the Art Institute of Dallas and
came out as an assistant designer, before
eventually moving on to Balliets, where
she has been for the last six and a half
years. Robyn is a buyer and seller for
contemporary handbags, apparel and
accessories. By being in the store selling
the product, she is able to receive much-
needed feedback from customers that
helps her buy the right products for the
store. She is constantly traveling and at
market: she travels to New York eight times
a year, as well as to the fashion-forward
cities of Milan, Italy and Paris, France (yes,
we’re jealous). Traveling gives Robyn tons
of inspiration. Out of all of the categories of
things she buys, her absolute favorites are
handbags and accessories.
Not only is Robyn a buyer and seller, but
she’s a great source of advice. People come
to Balliets for that one-on-one customer
service that you can’t get by just shopping
online or aimlessly walking around a
department store. It’s easy for people to
picture the old Balliets that opened its doors
in 1936, but it’s not the same store anymore.
Now it’s young and contemporary: Balliets
is Oklahoma City’s modern one-stop shop.
Wanting to know what’s “in” this season? Separates are making a very big comeback. For a while
now, dresses have been really popular (it’s practically the “era of the dress”), but now you’ll see more
pants or skirts for evening wear, and a lot of two-pieces that you can wear in multiple ways.
Robyn’s advice: find out who you are and be comfortable in your own skin, and most importantly,
have fun! You don’t always have to go with the same style; you can switch it up for every occasion.
Fashion is truly a lifestyle, and really anything goes. “I think it’s what you’re more comfortable in, you
can make your own style. It’s not about what everyone else is doing,” says Robyn.
Let’s get personal: Robyn loves good food and good wine (we do, too!). Besides her love for
fashion, she has a serious love for traveling. On the weekends Robyn does makeup for events like
weddings. She’s also a big-time social bug! She is involved in a lot of organizations such as Allied
Arts and Leadership of Oklahoma, and she is on the committee for Boots & Ball Gowns, benefiting
Infant Crisis Services. Robyn feels she has hit her all-time goal working in the premier fashion world
at Balliets. She is doing what she absolutely loves to do.
