Skyline Flow Controls – Venturi Meter (SFC-FV) The SFC Venturi Tube is a differential pressure flow element that accurately measures the flows of liquids or gases. SFC utilizes fabricated or cast iron venture tube which incorporates an efficient hydraulic shape with static pressure taps at the throat and inlet sections.
APPLICATIONS: The SFC-FV series venturi meter is often used in petrochemical industries, power plant, municipal water supply and wastewater systems due to its longevity and minimal maintenance. The meters are ideal for metering steam, water, sludge, slurries, viscous fluids, and even fluids contains abrasive solids as it can be coated with tungsten carbide.
ADVANTAGES: The SFC-FV series of venturi meters provide accurate flow measurement within ± 0.50% without flow calibration, even for pipes which have Reynolds numbers greater than 75000. When flow calibrated, the accuracy can be within ± 0.25% for accurate flow measurement, with stability linearity within ± 0.2%, on customer requirement.

Head Loss The permanent pressure loss of the SFC venturi meter is shown in the figure beside. The head loss is only 10% to 30% of the measuring differential pressure, which is lesser than head loss produced by orifice flow meters or nozzle flow meters. REQUIREMENT FOR STRAIGHT PIPE-RUN
Like most flow meters, straight or unrestricted pipe-run upstream and downstream of the flow element is preferred, and will produce better results and accuracy. By providing adequate straight line piping upstream and downstream of the meter, it can significantly increase accuracy despite the presence of disturbers. General guidance is offered in the table below with all dimensions provided being considered from the apex of the wedge element.

SFC-VT-FI , Series Insertion Venturi For applications where limited installation space is a concern for typical venturi meter, the SFC-VT-FI series venturi meter is the most optimal choice due to its unique design. In addition, it cost less than the ordinary venturi. The SFC-VT-FI, Insert Type Venturi primary flow element is a full performance, high accuracy and reliability differential producing flow measurement device that is thoroughly substantiated for 2 sigma performance as indicated below. This equip-ment differs from the SFC-VT pressure vessel meter design in that the hydraulic shape is ruggedly constructed on a properly sized center flange that fits within the bolt circle of the mating process piping. Thus the insert (center flange), is captured between the mating pipe flanges and does not need to intrinsically withstand the line pressure in the process piping, resulting in an effective pressure rating of the element matching that of the process piping. This feature permits substantial design and manufacturing cost savings without sacrifice of metering performance. SFC-VT-PI Series Insertion Venturi The SFC-VT-PI insert primary flow element consists of a hydraulic shape ruggedly constructed on a properly sized center flange that fits within the bolt circle of the mating process piping. It is all plastic or fiberglass design, utilizing DERAKANE* Epoxy Vinyl Ester Resin. It is non-corrosive, self scouring, dimensionally stable and can be used with line temperatures of up to 180℉ (standard resin) and up to 250℉ (high temperature resin). The high and low pressure connections are 316 stainless steel. The Venturi is supplied with integral neoprene flange gaskets that are ready for installation. This equipment is a very inexpensive alternative for gas flow measurement, where on-site power is unavailable, and lower accuracy is acceptable. Skyline Flow Controls – Wedge Meter (SFC-WM) The SFC wedge meter is a differential pressure device for use on all fluids. It is especially designed for slurries and liquids with suspended solids. The SFC-WM is also particularly effective on highly viscous fluids. The meter can also detect pipe flow of fluids with Reynold number as low as 500. SFC-WM can also be used for bi-directional flows. Pressure tapping is available in both flanged or screwed configuration. A remote seal connection is also available for DP transmitters.
DESCRIPTION & APPLICATIONS:
• Rugged and robust design • Low permanent pressure loss • Pipe Size: 1.5 in to 24 in (40mm to 600mm) • Chemical seals available for hazardous applications • Flow measurement of high viscosity liquids • Flow measurement of low Reynolds number fluids • Well suited for slurries applications • Bi-directional flow measurement
