The S$1.7 billion Singapore LNGTerminal, a key infrastructuredevelopment in Singapore’s energydiversification strategy, is now inoperation. The first phase ofdevelopment, comprising two180,000 m3 LNG tanks, a jetty andregasification facilities, startedconstruction in 2010 and wascompleted safely, on schedule and within budget.

Singapore LNG received its first shipment of LNG, for thecommissioning of the terminal, on 27 March 2013. Then on 7 May 2013 the first commercialLNG cargo from BG Group wassuccessfully off-loaded at the terminal.
At the stroke of midnight, the LNG was regasified and sent out through the terminal to theSingapore gas network.
We played a key role in thisproject as PMC, providingexpertise and leadership to bothSLNG’s project management andSamsung C&T’s EPC team.
With the strong contribution from our team, the project wasexecuted with no lost-time injuriesand a total recordable injury rateof less than 0.24 per 200,000manhours - a great achievementconsidering that more than 15 million manhours wereexpended on the project.
The LNG terminal has an initialregasification capacity of 3.5million tonnes per annum (mtpa).
A third LNG tank, additionalregasification facilities and asecondary berth are currentlyunder construction. We areworking as PMC on this secondphase, which will increase theregasification capacity to 6 mtpaby the end of 2013. Phase 3 FEEDfor a fourth tank and additionalfacilities for the potential futureexpansion of the terminal is in progress.
