Our Faith: God loves us so much. The Seven Sacraments are special signs and celebrations to help us grow closer to God and Jesus. The Sacraments help us remember that the ability to do good is in us. When you show love to other people, the Holy Spirit is in you.
Discussion: 1. Ask: “What is a sacrament?” A sacrament is a special sign or
celebration that helps us to be more like God. 2. Read John 14:18-20 from the Bible. 3. Discuss: When we receive a sacrament we are reminded that
we can show God’s love by the good we do for others. Introduce the Seven Sacraments using the provided anchor chart and gestures: The Seven Sacraments are Baptism (rocking a baby), Confirmation (fist in a palm with a thumb for a flame), Eucharist (holding a host), Reconciliation (clasping hands together - beg), Anointing of the Sick (make the sign of the cross using the thumb on a pretend forehead), Matrimony (sliding a ring onto a finger), and Holy Orders (hold out a hand over a pretend forehead and say, “God bless you!”).
4. Quiz students by calling out a sacrament and having them give the gesture.
5. Have students complete the following cut and paste in their Religion notebook.
