We are families breaking the silence and the shame of a loved one affected by the large Heroin and Opiate epidemic in our communities. This is a silent battle. We will not continue to be silent anymore. We are
speaking out and pro-viding support, hope and education. Every-one knows someone who is using it, strug-
gling to recover from it, or has died from it. How many more fam-ilies need to bury a loved one? Our 2016 Aware-ness Day was a huge success in our local community. We are working hard to edu-cate the youth an the families of our com-munity. Let’s make a difference, help us to educate and spread awareness! Free for the education vendors. We have planned our second annual Awareness Day and are asking for your support. All funding
will be uses to main-tain the organiza-tion’s awareness and eduction in the battle against Heroin and Opiate addiction. Do-nations of any kind are always appreciat-ed, gift baskets and/or gift certificates, large ticket items and vol-unteers are all needed. You may just help save a life!

Tips For CleaningYour Kitchen
(NAPSI)—While many find joy in the comfort foods of win-ter, spring provides a chance to embrace a fresh approach to your eating habits. The fol-lowing tips will put a spring in your step and get you ready for this temperate season: • Out with the old. There’s a reason spring
is the chosen season for all things related to cleaning. It’s the season associated with ideas of rebirth, reju-venation and renew-al. What better way to refresh your food choices than by clean-ing your pantry and fridge? Toss expired products and donate the shelf-stable goods
you no longer want to a worthy cause. • Celebrate col-or. Spring ushers in fresh new produce that adds a variety of flavor and nutrition. Produce such as apri-cots, green beans and broccoli all provide a pop of color that helps
ensure you are enjoy-ing the best seasonal produce this spring. • Get organized. Eliminate cluttered bags of rice or pasta by placing them in glass jars to make searching for pantry staples a breeze. Visit the gro-cer’s bulk aisle for a
variety of snack sta-ples such as nuts and seeds—great for that afternoon craving. • Springtime bever-ages. Swap the hot and rich drinks of winter for the lighter, fruit-in-fused tastes of spring. New Santa Cruz Or-ganic® Agua Fresca
beverages are lightly sweetened and blend-ed with organic fruit juice and a splash of lemon juice. Available in Mango Passion_fruit, Pomegranate and Grapefruit fla-vors, Certified USDA Organic Agua Fresca beverages are a revi-
talizing companion to warm weather fun. For more ideas and recipes, visit www.san-tacruzorganic.com or www.facebook.com/s a n t a c r u z o rg a n i c .During the average life-time, a human will grow 590 miles of hair.
Three Ways To Be More Efficient And Get The
Job Done Right (NAPSI)—When it comes to work and performing tough jobs, efficiency is key. Regardless of your profession or hob-bies, here are ways to ensure you get the job done right.
Put an End toMultitasking
Because our brains are hardwired to fo-cus on only one task at a time, humans are inherently bad multitaskers. In fact, studies have shown
that multitasking of-ten kills productivity and can cause poor short-term memory.
Instead of tackling a painting project at the same time you’re redoing your master bathroom, focus on one activity at a time. With less distraction, you’ll get more done.
Use the Right Tools Just like firefighters wouldn’t use a gar-den hose to do their job, using the best tools for the project at hand makes life easier. For example, ev-eryone owns a can of WD-40® Multi-Use Product, but the product also comes
in a line that offers different delivery sys-tems that are perfect for DIY enthusiasts, crafters and hobby-ists, as well as auto-motive profession-
als, contractors and factory workers. The Smart Straw Sprays 2 WaysTM allows for thousands of uses, the Big Blast covers large areas, and the One
Gallon lets you soak tools and supplies.
Take a Break from Your Routine
Learning new things keeps the mind young and active. If you’re
putting in long hours on a project, take an extended break so that your mind is sharper upon return. Breaks keep us from gettingContinue on Page 10

Don’t Move With
Moths (NAPSI)—Accord-ing to the U.S. Census Bureau, 12 percent of Americans move to new homes every year. The next time you’re among them, there’s something you need to remember NOT to pack: gypsy moths. The Danger It’s not just the right thing to do—it’s the law. The gypsy moth is one of the most destructive pests of trees and shrubs in the country. Gorging themselves on leaves, gypsy moth caterpil-lars defoliate, weaken and can kill more than 300 different species of trees. Since 1970, they’ve defoliated more than 75 million acres. The Answer That’s why the U.S. Department of Agri-culture requires home-
owners to inspect and remove gypsy moth egg masses from household goods prior to moving—and get an official certificate of inspection. Here’s how: • Inspect outdoor
household goods—lawn furniture, grills, outdoor toys, camping equipment—for egg masses. • Use a putty knife, stiff brush or similar hand tool to dispose of the egg masses into a container of hot, soapy water, or place them in a plastic bag, seal it, and set it in the sun. To get the certificate, you can perform a self-inspection or hire a state-certified pesti-cide applicator. Give the inspection certif-
icate to your moving van driver, advises the American Moving and Storage Association. Learn More
A free gypsy moth removal checklist and additional informa-tion can be found at www.Moving.org.

place their fixtures to curb household leaks. Visit www.epa.gov/water sense/fixaleak to learn more.
Home improve-ments can add value and aesthetic appeal to a home. However, to reap the rewards of a remodeled room, home addition or any home improvement project, homeowners will have to invest both their money and their time. Establish-ing a project budget can be helpful and prevent overspending. According to Visually, a marketing informa-tion service, nearly half of the homeown-ers surveyed said the cost of their renova-tion projects did not exceed their budgets. However, more than one-third of those sur-veyed reported going over budget on their projects. To keep costs down, consider hiring a contractor. He or she will have industry contacts and may be able to get materials at a lower cost. While you will pay for labor,
Budgeting HomeImprovement Projects
working with a con-
tractor greatly reduces both the time spent on the project and the risk of costly mistakes being made. In addi-tion, think about the way you finance the renovations. Industry experts have found that homeowners who finance their home improvement projects with lines of credit end up spending more money on average
than those who use their savings to fund projects. While it may be tempting to take out a line of credit for a home improvement project, spending only
money you already have may be the more respon-
sible route to take. FH168342

Annual Members and Friends Dinner
Monroe County Conservation Dis-trict’s Kettle Creek Environmental Edu-cation Center Plans Annual Members and Friends Dinner We are pleased to announce that our 33rd Annual Member and Friends of Con-servation Dinner will take place on Friday, March 31. We will be holding the dinner at the beautiful Trout Lake Retreat outside of Bartonsville in their new Lake View Din-
ing Room. This event is one of the highlights of the year on the E.E. Center’s schedule and we look forward to sharing an enjoyable evening highlighted by good food, enter-tainment and several award presentations. The theme for the evening’s entertain-ment is “Are You Smarter Than a Ket-tle Creek Camper?” a fun-filled game pat-terned after the TV show “Are You Smart-er Than a 5th Grader?”
The game will involve actual campers from Kettle Creek, audi-ence members and as always prizes will be awarded. Join us at Trout Lake where we’ll dine on a marvelous ‘Country Comforts Buffet’ fea-turing pot roast beef, oven fried chicken breast and several appetizing sides. We are excited to offer children 12 and un-der a reduced price and vegetarian op-tions will be available. The evening’s sched-ule will feature bird watching on the out-side patio beginning at
6 p.m., hors d’oeuvres, cocktails/cash bar at 6:15 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. Cost for the dinner is $27.50 per person and $13 for children 12 and under. Please RSVP by Fri-day, March 17, 2017. For more informa-tion, please call the E. E. Center at (570) 629-3061, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to
4:30 p.m. and most Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information on other programs we offer vis-it our website at mc-conservation.org. Directions to Kettle Creek Environmen-tal Education Center: From Stroudsburg (or Exit 302 from I-80 West or 302B from I-80 East)Continue on Page 13

(NAPSI)—At least 1,500 people a year could avoid getting in-jured or killed on the road, government and university researchers say, if road rage could be eliminated.
How To Stop It One way to do that, according to study.com, is to reduce tail-gating, especially by young drivers. The Hartford Cou-rant found the most common “contrib-uting factor” noted by police in crashes caused by new drivers was following another vehicle too closely. Most crashes where tailgating was the pri-mary causal factor happened between 2 and 3 p.m., about the time high school class-es are done for the day. In other words, the typical crash caused by a 16- or 17-year-old
Close Callsdriver doesn’t involve a car careening off the road during a boozy, late-night joyride.
The Cause Tailgating is so high on the list of accident causes because stop-ping involves more than just applying the brakes. It also includes perception time (real-ization that you need to stop) and reaction time (moving your foot to the brake ped-al). At 60 mph, by the time the vehicle begins to slow down, it will have traveled more than 130 feet. Most drivers know they should maintain a minimum of three seconds between a car and the vehicle in front. However, de-pending on factors such as vehicle con-dition, size and type, speed, time of day, road and weather
conditions, and visi-bility, the time it takes to fully stop can vary dramatically. For ex-ample, a wet road can quadruple the time required to fully stop, and increasing speed from 35 mph to 55 mph nearly doubles the required stopping distance.
What You Can Do If you find that an-other vehicle is tailgat-ing you, remain calm and don’t let ego get in the way of safety. Do not slam on your brakes, honk your
horn or use angry ges-tures. Instead, if there is an alternate lane, safely move over so the other car can pass. If you can’t move over, slowly increase the distance between your car and the one in front of you. That way, if the tailgater hits you, you’re less likely to hit another car.
Learn More For further informa-tion on what to do if someone is tailgating visit www.accidentat-torneys.org.
