NATIONAL MEASURES AND EXCELLENT ORGANISATIONS, ATTRACTING RESEARCHERS FROM ABROAD
▶ The Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia is a public organisation that supports science and research. Programmes support technological de-velopment, advanced and innovative ideas, the development of human resources, laboratories and scientific infrastructure, integration into in-ternational science trends, cooperation between science and industry, and other topics that are of strategic and social significance.
▶ The Innovation Fund of the Republic of Serbia contributes to the overall development of the inno-vations through various financial aid instruments, particularly by fostering the establishment of new companies and strengthening existing companies, by positioning them to access venture capital mar-kets, and by attracting foreign direct investment in high-tech research and development. ▶ The Science Technology Park Belgrade is a partnership between the Republic of Ser-bia Government, the City of Belgrade and the University of Belgrade. STP Belgrade has become a new business core of the city that brings together dozens of high-tech devel-opment companies/teams by providing dif-ferent programmes and activities, and plays an essential role in developing the innovation ecosystem in Serbia.
The H2020 funded ▶ Project ANTARES aims to evolve BioSense Institute from Serbia into a European Centre of Excellence (CoE) for ad-vanced technologies in sustainable agricul-ture. ANTARES aims to boost the human and material resources of the new CoE in carefully selected research fields, to enable it to create
scientific breakthroughs and sustain excellence across a range of topics. In regards to human resources, this involves hiring exemplary senior research leaders with the aim of injecting specific scientific expertise as well as an innovative attitude into the Institute’s culture.
