Pain Management Recognizing and treating
pain in animals can be
challenging. Many ani-
mals hide their pain or
mask their pain with nor-
mal behaviors. A pain
scale is a useful tool to
rate an animal’s pain.
Drugs and treatments are
available to make pa-
tients more comfortable.

Evening Speaker
Fritz Wood Fritz Wood operates an animal health con-sulting practice in Kansas City and is affiliated with Triune Financial Partners, both of which exist to help veterinarians achieve their life goals. He has focused exclusively on the veteri-nary profession for nearly 30 years, conducting important research on veterinary productivity and attributes of high-performing practices. He currently serves on the advisory board of To-day’s Veterinary Business. Is the Price Right? What Worked and What Didn't with Pricing our Preventive Care Laboratory Work. Based on results from a recent study, there’s a high likelihood that no critical thought goes into your laboratory pricing. Most practices simply multiply the cost by two—a byproduct of bygone days, inherited from a long-ago own-er, sales representative, or practice manage-ment consultant. Today, that convenient math may lead to unfortunate outcomes. Preventive care lab pricing deserves careful thought. • Understand how to practice financial health
while growing your practice. • Recognize pricing is both art and science. • Build a plan to address your pricing strategy.
