What is a Sentence?
A sentence is a group of words with a subject and predicate.– The subject of the sentence usually tells what the
sentence is about.– The predicate of a sentence tells about the subject

What is an Independent (Main) Clause?
An independent clause is a clause that can STAND ALONE as a sentence.
It does NOT need to be attached to another clause.
Therefore, an independent clause has a subject, predicate, and creates a complete thought.
![Page 12: Sentences, Phrases, and Clauses What is a Sentence? A sentence is a group of words with a subject and predicate. –The subject of the sentence usually](https://reader036.vdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062313/56649b50550346318e8cb0eb/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)

A dependent clause is a clause that does not complete a thought, and must be accompanied by an independent clause.
