“SEICAA is dedicated to providing
opportunity and for individuals and
communities to thrive and reach their
fullest potential, promoting self-sufficiency
and greater economic independence
through services, education, affordable
housing, and training.”
Seicaa’s self-help housing program completes 70th home!
SEICAA has been helping people build and buy their own homes in southeast Idaho since 2004. SEICAA’s Self Help Housing Program is one in which potential buyers provide a limited labor contribution on their home. The work they provide is turned into a credit at the time of closing towards down-payment and closing costs.
SEICAA’s Self Help Housing Program is
different from con-ventional home buying programs because the agency secures funding to help provide gap subsidy financing enabling lower income households to purchase a new home. SEICAA builds Energy Star Certified homes- homes with lower energy costs that translate to more affordable ownership. Homeownership is the cornerstone of the American Dream and SEICAA helps make this dream a reality.
SEICAA has completed 70 homes throughout Southeastern Idaho and has 4 more in the works. SEICAA requires program participant
to sign contracts prior to construction start and each buyer on title must contribute at least 50 hours labor contribution toward the
home. Interested individuals please contact SEICAA at 208-232-1114 x101.

SLEDS MOTORCYCLE “Run” SLEDS (Santa Loves Every Donation Shared), a committee led by community members, held the 3rd annual Toy-Run to raise funds and toys for children in need. More than 100 motorcycle enthusiasts gathered on the grounds of City Hall to give gifts and monetary donations for children. SLEDS raised over $6000 in 2014. All the funds benefit low– income children in Bannock County. SLEDS motto is, “We Do It For The Kids!”
SHOP-WITH-A-COP
For the sixth year, Shopko hosted the annual “Shop-with-a-Cop.” Police officers from agencies throughout southeast Idaho volunteered their time to make this day special for participating children. The event included a free breakfast provided by McDonald’s, followed by a ride to the Pine Ridge Mall in police cars. Mr. & Mrs. Claus arrived in an armored vehicle and greeted the children. The 71 young shoppers were paired with officers to buy gifts for family members. This event fosters a positive memorable activity for children with local law
enforcement officers. Shopko and local law enforcement held fundraisers throughout the year and raised nearly $13,000 for the shopping day. Local businesses contributing to this event included Shopko and McDonald’s.
Bannock Civitans raised toys through the Bowling for Toys event to assist with their annual Civitan Christmas Party held at SEICAA’s St. Anthony Place. The group hosted over 150 children throughout southeast Idaho.
Bannock Civitans also took teenagers on a snowmobile party following the morning’s gifting activity.

Individual Development Account (IDA) Program
SEICAA’s Individual Development Account (IDA) Program successfully graduated four individuals. SEICAA would like to congratulate them and wishes them luck in their new endeavors towards self-sufficiency. SEICAA’s IDA Program provides extensive financial literacy training, case management, and matched savings to help individuals reach self-sufficiency goals. SEICAA’s IDA Program receives support from several community partners. IDA funds can be used towards the purchase of a home, to start a small business, or to pay for higher education.
SEICAA is fortunate to be the recipient of donations throughout the year and would like to thank all the individuals, students, businesses, and community and civic organizations that hold collection drives for various items that SEICAA distributes as needed.
It is with the support and collaboration from the communities that SEICAA is able to carryout its Mission everyday. SEICAA cannot say enough thanks for all the hard work and dedication!
