What is it ?
![Page 3: Sears web30e connectionartificialintelligence](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022013100/54584b3aaf79594f558b52ea/html5/thumbnails/3.jpg)
What is Web 3.0 ?
The changes we are seeing now may prove to be the most significant and the largest change to the traditional software industry, ever!
Web 3.0 is about replacing existing software platforms with a new generation of platforms as a service.
![Page 4: Sears web30e connectionartificialintelligence](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022013100/54584b3aaf79594f558b52ea/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)
Let’s Explore the Trends
• Expansion of SaaS (Without Limits)
• The Semantic Web (The Data Web)
• 3D Spaces (Now for Business)
![Page 5: Sears web30e connectionartificialintelligence](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022013100/54584b3aaf79594f558b52ea/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
Trends - Client Server to SaaS
• 10 years coming - Client-Server to SaaS
• Multi-tenant internet Super Applications
• Super Apps utilized by the enterprise
• Web-based apps have generated two massive
changes
![Page 6: Sears web30e connectionartificialintelligence](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022013100/54584b3aaf79594f558b52ea/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
What is Web 3.0 ?
To place Web 3.0 in perspective we must first look at Web 1.0 and Web 2.0
![Page 7: Sears web30e connectionartificialintelligence](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022013100/54584b3aaf79594f558b52ea/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
Web 1.0 Powerful Applications
• News, music and everything else is moved to digital• Web sites become super applications • Ease of use, scale, and a huge level of functionality.• Knowledge and transactions of goods became instant• Global markets now at the command of individual
consumers and businesses
![Page 8: Sears web30e connectionartificialintelligence](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022013100/54584b3aaf79594f558b52ea/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
Web 2.0
• Social Networking - Anyone can participate in the content creation
• User-generated content, collaboration, & community• Content isn’t fixed publication—it changes daily• More companies enter the emerging SaaS• YouTube, Flickr, Blogspot, MySpace, FaceBook
![Page 9: Sears web30e connectionartificialintelligence](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022013100/54584b3aaf79594f558b52ea/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
Web 2.0 - Mashups
Development and utilization of web servicesMost sites you visit have a web service running in the
backgroundThese services allow you to integrate data between sites
through API’s such as you see on Flickr and AmazonA web application combines data from more than one
source into a single integrated tool; an example is the use of cartographic data from Google Maps to add location information to real-estate data, thereby creating a new and distinct web service that was not originally provided by either source
![Page 10: Sears web30e connectionartificialintelligence](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022013100/54584b3aaf79594f558b52ea/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
In-House Barriers Push W3.0
Building massively scalable data centers that are secure, reliable, and highly available is very complex and vary expensive.
Traditional client-server software development is still a painful and complex process
Deployment of applications is still difficult and the cost of maintenance is expensive
![Page 11: Sears web30e connectionartificialintelligence](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022013100/54584b3aaf79594f558b52ea/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
Web 3.0 Redefined
Web 3.0 is the integration of data on the internet
(Web 1.0) - Data is online + Super Apps(Web 2.0) - Sites share via API’s and social networks (Web 3.0) – Plugs into this massive amount of data we
have made available on the web
We need to view the internet as a platform
![Page 12: Sears web30e connectionartificialintelligence](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022013100/54584b3aaf79594f558b52ea/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
Web 3.0 as a Platform
• We will see data being integrated and applying it into innovative ways that were never possible before
• Imagine The new shopping experience• Imagine The new travel experience• Major web sites will be transformed into web
services• Major web sites will expose information to the
world.
![Page 13: Sears web30e connectionartificialintelligence](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022013100/54584b3aaf79594f558b52ea/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
Web 3.0 Open Data
The new reality
... open data is a competitive advantage
Stop worrying about protecting information !!!!!
Instead start charging for it, by offering an API
…For a small fee for each API call
![Page 14: Sears web30e connectionartificialintelligence](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022013100/54584b3aaf79594f558b52ea/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)
Web 3.0 – Software Development
Big changes to the traditional software industry
Anyone can innovate, anywhere
Code is written, collaborated on, debugged, tested, deployed, and run in the cloud
![Page 15: Sears web30e connectionartificialintelligence](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022013100/54584b3aaf79594f558b52ea/html5/thumbnails/15.jpg)
Web 3.0 – Software Development
• SaaS apps can be developed, deployed, and evolved far more quickly and cost-effectively than traditional software of the client-server era
• CIOs finally break through the innovation backlog created by the cost and complexity of maintaining client-server apps
![Page 16: Sears web30e connectionartificialintelligence](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022013100/54584b3aaf79594f558b52ea/html5/thumbnails/16.jpg)
Web 3.0 Global Development
• All you need to create an application is an idea, others can then add their talent
• Every developer around the world can access the same powerful cloud infrastructures
• Because code lives in the cloud, global talent pools can contribute to it
• Because it runs in the cloud, a truly global market can subscribe to it as a service
![Page 17: Sears web30e connectionartificialintelligence](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022013100/54584b3aaf79594f558b52ea/html5/thumbnails/17.jpg)
Development in the Cloud
• No need to purchase application servers and a small army to fine tune and maintain them
• Software developers won’t have to build a security and sharing model. The cloud provides these items
• Ease of deployment, and depth of functionality
• More time given to functionality and meeting client needs
![Page 18: Sears web30e connectionartificialintelligence](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022013100/54584b3aaf79594f558b52ea/html5/thumbnails/18.jpg)
Web 3.0 as the Semantic Web
• The Semantic Web - coined by Tim Berners-Lee, the man who invented the (first) World Wide Web
• A place where machines can read Web pages much as we humans read them
• A place where search engines and software agents can better troll the Net and find what we're looking for
• Web as a universal medium for data, information, and knowledge exchange
![Page 19: Sears web30e connectionartificialintelligence](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022013100/54584b3aaf79594f558b52ea/html5/thumbnails/19.jpg)
Web 3.0 The “Data Web”
• The Resource Description Framework (RDF) is a family of World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) specifications, originally designed as a metadata data model is now accepted as a general method of modeling information through a variety of syntax formats.
• The RDF data model is based upon the idea of making statements about resource Web resources in the form of subject-predicate-object expressions, called triples in RDF terminology
![Page 20: Sears web30e connectionartificialintelligence](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022013100/54584b3aaf79594f558b52ea/html5/thumbnails/20.jpg)
The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C)
• Is the main international standards organization for the World Wide Web
• Full-time staff for the purpose of working together in the development of standards for the World Wide Web
• The W3C has 434 members• W3C also engages in education and outreach,
develops software and serves as an open forum for discussion about the Web
![Page 21: Sears web30e connectionartificialintelligence](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022013100/54584b3aaf79594f558b52ea/html5/thumbnails/21.jpg)
The Resource Description Framework (RDF)
• A general method of modeling information through a variety of syntax formats
• Formatted as subject-predicate-object expressions
• The subject denotes the resource• The predicate denotes trait or aspects of the
resource and expresses a relationship between the subject and the object
![Page 22: Sears web30e connectionartificialintelligence](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022013100/54584b3aaf79594f558b52ea/html5/thumbnails/22.jpg)
The RDF Format - Example"The sky has the color blue"
RDF Triples
[The sky] [ has the color] [ blue]
subject denoting "the sky“
predicate denoting "has the color“
object denoting "blue"
![Page 23: Sears web30e connectionartificialintelligence](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022013100/54584b3aaf79594f558b52ea/html5/thumbnails/23.jpg)
SPARQL - Searching RDF Data
• A standardized query language and API for searching across distributed RDF databases on the Web
• The full Semantic Web will widen the scope of data
• Both structured data and unstructured content (such as Web pages, documents, etc.) will be accessible
![Page 24: Sears web30e connectionartificialintelligence](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022013100/54584b3aaf79594f558b52ea/html5/thumbnails/24.jpg)
Web 3.0 Artificial Intelligence
• An extension of the Semantic web concept• Academic research is being conducted to
develop software for reasoning, based on description logic and intelligent agents, for example, the World Wide Mind project
• Companies such as IBM and Google are implementing new technologies that are yielding surprising information
![Page 25: Sears web30e connectionartificialintelligence](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022013100/54584b3aaf79594f558b52ea/html5/thumbnails/25.jpg)
Web 3.0 and 3D Spaces
• Another possible path for Web 3.0 is towards the 3 dimensional vision championed by the Web3D Consortium
• Taking the concept realized by Second Life further
• Cyber Business meetings and virtual tours• Grocery shopping in a 3D spaces with delivery
![Page 26: Sears web30e connectionartificialintelligence](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022013100/54584b3aaf79594f558b52ea/html5/thumbnails/26.jpg)
Web 3.0 Conclusion
• It is not a question of if web sites become web services, but when and how
• Companies will expose more and more data for profit
• Intelligent agents will be more powerful than ever before
• Industry will move more Information Systems infrastructure into the Cloud
• Applications of the future will be pieced together in a home-grown fashion from the End-User
