Due to the recent resignation of Trustee James DiPietro, a vacancy has occurred on the Board of Trustees. If you are interested in serving your community as a member of the Board for the remainder of the term which expires on June 30, 2019, please send a cover letter and complete resume to Library Director Frank McKenna. You must be at least 18 years of age, a citizen of the United States and a resident of the Seaford School District in order to serve.
Seaford 375th Anniversary Presentation

Blood Drive MONDAY, AUGUST 27th 2:00-8:00pm
The Long Island Blood Services, a division of the New York Blood Center, is proud to host a blood drive in the Valentine Meehan Community Meeting Room. Anyone in good health between the ages of 17 and 75 may donate blood. The procedure generally takes 7-10 minutes. After your donation, you will rest and have refreshments. Wildflower Salad Bowl & Servers THURSDAY, AUGUST 16th, 7:00-9:00pm Cost: $8.00 Shirley Ruby will show you how to paint a garden of wildflowers that are beautiful and colorful on a plastic salad bowl, and plastic fork and spoon for serving the salad. After completing this fun project, bring the salad bowl and utensil set home to add flare to your summertime mealtime decor. Registration begins Saturday, August 4th at the Reference Desk.
Trash or Treasure Antique Roadshow MONDAY, AUGUST 20th, 1:00-3:00pm FREE Do you have something old or unique and wonder if it has some value? Certified Appraiser Eddie Costello and his wife Jean will present a lecture that is both informative and highly entertaining on how to identify today’s hottest antiques and collectibles. The first 40 people registered will receive a free verbal appraisal of any one antique or collectible (no coins, currency, or stamps). City Island - Bartow-Pell Mansion & the Nautical Museum WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 10th Bus leaves at 8:15am Cost: $116 per person (includes gratuity)
Enjoy a day on charming City Island, a 1.5-mile historic seaside community, which feels more like a New England fishing village than the Bronx. Enjoy a docent guided tour of the Bartow-Pell Mansion; a national landmark and one of the most beautifully situated homes in the city. Lunch is included at the Sea Shore Restaurant on the waterfront followed by a docent guided tour of the Nautical Museum. Lunch choice to be made that day. 2018 LIBRARIES ROCK
The 2018 Summer Reading Program, “LIBRARIES ROCK” is winding down, and of
course we'd like to give a big Thank You to THE CHILDREN OF SEAFORD who
participated. Because without our young readers there wouldn't be a Summer
Reading Club. We had a record number of children register and participate in
Summer Reading including:
600+ registered participants
9,000+ people attended 80+ events
Way to go Seaford!
Many thanks again to our volunteers who put in many busy hours during the
months of June, July & August. Without these dedicated workers, the Summer
Reading Program would not be possible. An especially big note of thanks to Miss
Sabrina, Miss Kristina, Miss Michelle, Christopher & Jessica. They are so amazing,
both individually and as a fantastic team. THANK YOU!

Learn the various forms of graffiti art from professor and artist Chris Vivas. You will get a chance to sketch, layout and create a finalized version.

Chopped FRIDAY, AUGUST 3rd, 4:00-5:30pm Teen chefs will compete as a team to make unforgettable meals. Rounds consist of an appetizer, an entrée and a dessert using mystery ingredients. Prizes will be given out to the chopped champions. Register now.
Henna Tattoo MONDAY, AUGUST 6th , 4:00-5:30pm Between the beautiful designs and where on your body to put the tattoo the possibilities are endless! Register now.
Summer Slime Lab WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 8th, 4:30-5:30pm Teens will enjoy mixing together simple household ingredients, watercolors, and more as they create “slime” that will both fascinate and excite them. Teens will be able to take some slime home in a container to continue the fun and exploration! Register now.
Cupcake Wars FRIDAY, AUGUST 10th, 4:30-5:30pm
Teens will come up with an original theme and decorate cupcakes as a team. Each team member will receive a certificate including best presentation, most colorful to eat, and overall appearance. Everyone receives a prize! The grand prize winner of the Summer Reading Program will be announced at the end of the program. Register now.
S.A.T. Review Course THURSDAYS, SEPTEMBER 20th, OCTOBER 4th, OCTOBER 11th, OCTOBER 18th, OCTOBER 25th, NOVEMBER 1st, 6:45-8:45pm Cost: $85.00 This series of six two -hour sessions will help prepare you to take the S.A.T. in the Fall 2018. Checks should be made payable to Melissa Bielawski. You also must purchase the book "McGraw-Hill's S.A.T., 2018 edition", at a cost of about $18 available from book stores or online sellers such as Amazon.com or BN.com.
