DescriptionThe DCS-400 Capacitive◊ Sensor is designed for non-contact in-slot measurements of stator winding vibration(i.e. bar relative to core). The sensor is embedded in astator slot facing the bar and replacing a wedge or a partof it. The measured signal is sent through an extensioncable to a LIN-240 Linearization module that provides 4 to 20 mA and 0-10V analog raw outputs of bar displacement/vibration.
The DCS-400 width allows for easy insertion in most statorslot sizes. Its measuring range, accuracy, and reliabilityis unaffected by: deposits of carbon dust, dirt, and oil;strong magnetic fields; high shock vibration; and EMI-RFI.
The DCS-400 is a passive sensor, with no moving partsor active electronic elements. It can measure vibration assmall as 2 µm (0.08 mil) @ static gap of 1.5 mm (60 mils).

Overview
DescriptionThe PCU-100 is a multi-channel, digital processing unitwith on-line programmable capability for on-site systemconfiguration.
The innovative modular design allows various mix andmatch possibilities of input, output and relay modules. It accepts up to 8 signals from FOA-100 accelerometers,LIN-240, -242 or -231 SBV Linearization Modules andmatching sensors. Analog output modules inside thePCU-100 can perform various signal processes: peak,peak-peak, rms, gap.
The front-panel keypad and high visibility vacuum fluorescent display (VFD) permit the modification of allsettings in minutes without disrupting on-line monitoring.Four BNC connectors and two PCMCIA expansion slotsare accessible from the front panel.

DesignThe PCU-100 is built with a space saving design. The front-panel hosts a vacuum fluorescent display (VFD),a keypad, status LEDs, BNC connectors and PCMCIAexpansion slots. The back-panel features I/O ports withdetachable screw terminals, fuseholders, power inputconnector and switch.
The unit features 8 internal expansion slots for task moduleswhich provide configuration flexibility for various usages.The universal power supply makes the PCU-100 readilycompatible with virtually all AC and DC power inputs.
ProgrammingThe PCU-100 is fully on-line configurable using the front-panelkeypad and display to change any setting in minutes withoutdisrupting the monitoring operation. Settings can be backed-upon a PCMCIA flash memory card. The setting menus arepassword protected to prevent unauthorized access.
Menus are used to enter information, select among presetfeatures, and enable/disable various parameters.
The user can choose to enable or disable modules,channels, inputs, outputs, or relays, and to enter differentvalues such as low and high limits, hysterisis, filters, timeconstants and delays. He can also select amongst typesof signal processing (peak, pk-pk, rms, average, AC, DC,AC+DC, maximum value), active relay level (energized/deen-ergized), channels to be displayed on bar graphs and sys-tem units.
Two sets of Alert and Danger thresholds are supportedand can be switched remotely for alarm monitoring ofspecific transitory operating conditions.
DisplayThe VFD screen is used for bar graph display and unitconfiguration.
In monitoring mode, the screen displays the vibration ofone channel at a time in sequence. The lower line displaysthe vibration bar graph with indicators for peak, alert anddanger levels. The upper line shows information such asmachine or channel ID and status, numerical vibration value,percentage of full scale, Alert and Danger thresholds.
The Right and Left arrow buttons enable to select andchange the channel to be displayed as a bar graph. TheUp and Down arrow buttons are used to select the typeof information to be showed on the upper line.
Task ModulesThe universal design of the Vibration Input Modulereadily accepts two probe input channels with complemen-tary high-speed raw outputs (-20 to +10 V) and suppliestwo virtual inner channels to the unit for processing
The Analog Output Module supports up to four virtualinner channels and directly provides RS-485, 4 to 20 mA or0 to 10 V processed outputs to the ZOOM® system or tothird-party instrumentation. It performs the signalprocessing for either direct output or virtual inner channelfor alarm monitoring. Each module can process severalsignals: peak, pk-pk, rms, average, raw (with passbandfiltering), AC+DC, AC, DC, maximum value, or none.
Two types of protection relay modules are available:
• Internal Relay Module features three DPST relaysused for Alert, Danger or System-OK outputs.
• External 9-Relays & Driver Module activates up to9 DPDT relays mounted external to the PCU-100 unit.Each relay can be readily used for Alert, Danger orSystem-OK outputs.
The Digital I/O Module is used for digital inputs and outputs.Digital inputs are used for remote switching controls suchas Rack Inhibit, Alarm Reset, Danger Bypass, Power-upInhibit, and Alarm Threshold select. Digital outputs are usedto transmit unit status information such as Power-ON,Power Failure, and Rack Bypass while alarm is inhibited.
