Dear Sandburg Families and Friends,
Happy New Year! I look forward to our continued partnership this New Year to make this year the best year ever.
Winter weather has a direct impact on our schools as we saw last week with two days off due to extreme cold. There has also been additional traffic in our
dropoff and pickup lanes due to the winter weather. I thank you all for your extra care and caution as you drop off and pick up your students. The patience that you have demonstrated has helped keep these times safe for students.
I also thank you for your participation and support of the winter holiday events and giving opportunities, like the Sandburg Winter Holiday Program and the Giving Tree program. Our winter clothing drive will continue throughout the winter. If you have any items to donate, please drop them off in our office.
As you know, our students participate in a lot of standardized assessments each year, which include district assessments and the Fountas and Pinnell
leveling system. We use the data from these assessments to determine instructional levels, set school improvement goals, make instructional decisions and adjustments, and plan for student learning interventions.
Our PTAsponsored Family Movie Night is right around the corner on Saturday, February 7. Doors open at 6:15 PM and the movie will start at 7:00 PM. Please look for additional information from the Sandburg PTA and plan on attending this enjoyable family event.
Friday, January 16 is an elementary institute day, and the following Monday, January 19 is Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Both are nonattendance days
for students. Please enjoy the 4day weekend.
Sincerely,
Aaron Bacon
