NEROLAC PAINTS LIMITED, CHENNAI
ABSTRACT The project titled ‘A STUDY ON AN
EFFECTIVENESS OF SAFETY AND HEALTH MEASURES IN THE KANSAI NEROLAC PAINTS LIMITED’ was undertaken. The company wants to know the awareness and expectations of the workers towards safety and health measures. The descriptive type of research was undertaken for the study and the survey method was adopted to collect the primary data. A structured questionnaire was employed as research tool to collect the primary data. The collected data were analyzed with the help of tables, percentages, charts and statistical tools. The study has been conducted within the company premises over 100 respondents were considered as sample for the study.

Objectives of the study
Primary objectives:a) To analyze the effectiveness of safety and health
measures in Kansai Nerolac Paints Limited. Secondary objectives: a) To evaluate the various factors influencing safety, health
and environmental policies, procedures, codes and standards programs in KNPL.
b) To know the safety and health related needs of employees while they work in the production area in KNPL.
c) To review the Plans for health and safety by setting targets and objectives, identifying hazards, assessing risks at KNPL.
d) To know the worker’s satisfaction and involvement towards health and safety programs in KNPL.
Needs for the study
The safety and health statement represents a commitment to their safety and health in KANSI NEROLAC PAINTS LIMITED. It should state how the employer will ensure their safety and health and state the resources necessary to maintain and review safety and health laws and standards. The safety and health statement should influence all work activities in the organization.
Scope of the study
This study focuses only one manufacturing sector so; it requires the joint application of the experience, knowledge and know-how of a number of specialists, experts in their own field of activity.
Hence the scope of the project was limited to the Perungudi Branch of Kansai Nerolac Paints Company. The findings and recommendations can be applicable to only Kansai Nerolac Paints, Perungudi Branch only. This cannot be generalized.
LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY
The study is conducted and concluded considering the prevailing conditions, which may subject to change in future.
The participation of the respondents in providing the
information was found difficult, as they were quite busy with their schedules.
The reception and willingness of the workers in filling up the questionnaire found difficult.
As the data collection method was survey method and the contact method employed was personal interview, the information collected may be biased.
