By Jim Richmond
On Saturday, January 20, several STAHC mem-
bers met to plan events for 2018. Their
efforts, along with photos of the meeng can
be found in the event calendar and elsewhere
in this edion of Rumblin’s.
We started with a pizza lunch with many side dishes, desserts and
other snacks provided by the following members:
Tina and Bob Adkins
Bonnie and David Ayer
Joy and Michael Escriva
Lynn McKinnie
Bre; Miller
Karen and Jim Richmond
DJ Stamp
Denene and Jeff Whitmore
AFer everyone had their fill, we got down to business. Our first top-
ic was to discuss eliminang, or at least minimizing, the business
poron of the Holiday Party. All were in favor and we decided to
hold our elecons in October. This year we will do this at a meeng
aFer the South Texas All Brish Car Day the last weekend of October
at our home – it is just seven miles from Boerne Plaza, the venue for
STABCD. Other business can be discussed at this me or at the Plan-
ning Meeng in January. The Holiday Party can then be devoted
solely to vising with fellow STAHC members, eang and having fun!
A suggeson was made to consider on line vong for next year’s
officers so that all STAHC members can take part. Ron Borden and I
will look into the feasibility of doing this.
Next, we looked into the possibility of forming planning groups in
both Ausn and San Antonio. This idea came from a report at the
fall AHCA Delegates Meeng from the New England Region Delegate
that they had formed such commi;ees, called “wings”, to plan
events for their areas. That Region covers all of New England and
has over 300 members. All in a;endance felt that the idea would
not work in a club our size and might cause a divide between

members in the two major cies that we cover.
STAHC has one-tenth the membership and covers a
much smaller area than the New England Region.
Tina and Bob Adkins reported on their efforts to
find a site for Texas Healey Roundup 39 (2019) in
Dripping Springs. Although no site has been iden-
fied for final approval, they feel that there is poten-
al in that area. The group encouraged them to
connue the search for venues in Dripping Springs.
Stay tuned for further developments.
We were asked to crique Ron Borden’s efforts to
publish this newsle;er and maintain the STAHC
web page. Everyone was very complimentary of
both and urged Ron to keep doing what he is doing.
We then proceeded with scheduling events for the
coming year. As menoned earlier, you can find
the results in the event calendar. There should be
enough variety to please each of you, however, if
you would like to suggest something else or you
would like to help with an event that is already
scheduled please let me know.
Our next event for February is a progressive dinner,
a change from the last several years. Bonnie Ayer
will work out all the details and we will communi-
cate these to you soon. Sounds like a lot of fun.
To summarize, all agreed that our goal for 2018 is
greater parcipaon from all STAHC members. For
that to happen we need your help. If you have not
a;ended one of our events in the recent past
please
go to the event calendar and choose at least one to
parcipate in. Remember, driving a Healey is not a
requirement.
Please join me in looking forward to a very acve
and successful 2018!

The club’s website looks signifi-
cantly different on mobile devic-
es than when viewed on desk-
tops or laptops. This is a limita-
on of the website construcon
soFware. However the more a;racve desktop
version can be seen using a phone, etc., by clicking
the link labelled “Classic View” displayed at the top
and bo;om of most “mobile” pages. Honestly, ed-
ing the mobile site is truly a “PITA” (if you aren’t
familiar with that acronym it means the same as
“very cumbersome”), and I dread changing any mo-
bile content. Also some of the mobile pages simply
do not work. I confess that I haven’t taken the me
to get with Customer Support to recfy these is-
sues. The Support folks are highly rated and have
been very helpful and friendly, but contacng them
has not been that high a priority. Redirecng site
visitors to the “Classic View” has been, yes, easier
on me, the webmaster, but also the content is
more a;racve and user friendly when using
“Classic View.” So unl further noce very li;le
effort will be expended maintaining the mobile por-
on. If there is a desire to ulize the “mobile” view
please let me know. And if problems arise with ei-
ther view let me know.
Just for fun a word has been intenonally mis-
spelled somewhere in this issue. Search the news-
le;er and let me know if you find it. Those finding
it will receive the coveted “Eagle-Eye” award.
Those that can’t find a misspelled word will receive
“Bat” awards! (OK - unintenonal spelling errors
will qualify, too . . .)
In closing I would like to extend a sincere “thank
you” to all at the Planning Meeng for your kind
words and support for my efforts with the news-
le;er and website. It is deeply appreciated.

2018 STAHC Planning Mee!ng
For the club members who were not at the planning meeng the goal for this year, as Jim stated in the
President’s Ramblin’s column, is greater parcipaon in the club’s events. We are open to your sugges-
ons:
• Is there an event you would like for the club to hold?
• Would you like to learn more about your Healey or Healeys in general?
• Is there an event listed in the Calendar on page 6 that you would like to a;end or assist with?
• Do you need a tech session to fix something on, or add something to your Healey? Change oil? Lube
the chassis? If you don’t have space or equipment needed for a session, someone in the club does.
The tech session doesn’t need to be at your garage.
Please contact any club officer listed on page 2 with your thoughts. All suggesons are encouraged and
most welcomed.

As of the end of January I have put over 100 miles on
the car aFer sealing the gas tank sending unit. I’ve
also filled the tank twice and gently handled the car
so as to get the gasoline moving around in the tank.
And I’m happy to report that there has not been one
gasoline vapor molecule reach my nostrils! Is it
fixed? Yes, but me will tell over the next year or
two and several thousand miles whether the fix is
permanent or not. For now I’m happy.

As the Spanner Turns (connued from page 5)
The flasher module menoned in the October Rum-
blin’s “As the Spanner Turns” column has been in-
stalled. It is wired to the 3rd brake light bar and has
been reported to make the car more noceable as
the brakes are applied. Mission accomplished.
Work is in progress on the turn signal circuit ulizing
the DRL’s in the front and a set of LED strips to be
installed for rear turn signals. Currently a test turn
signal circuit is operaonal . When the design is
completed and installed I hope to post a “gee-whiz”
video of their operaon and the 3rd brake light
flasher operaon.
Jim Richmond and Ed Dingivan both report no pro-
gress on their Sprites since the last update.
Michael Escriva now has an enclosed trailer for
transporng his Healeys that he purchased from
Jim. Michael has not been able to start restoraon
of his big Healey yet which was purchased from the
Adkins.

TECH SESSIONS
Tech sessions can be a get-together of members to help a fellow club member with a specific problem or a
task that requires, or is easier, with one or more helpers. A Tech session can also be a meeng where a
member, or non-member, with some parcular skill or experse demonstrates how to accomplish a parc-
ular task. Tech Session a;endees may be helpers, teachers, learners, tool suppliers or any combinaon of
the above. Tech session hosts usually supply light refreshments. Beer is recommended.
If you would like to host a tech session please nofy a club officer (see contact list on page 2) as far in ad-
vance as possible, but no less than one week ahead of the session date. I will forward your request to all
members on the Rumblins e-mail list as soon as possible. Please supply the following informaon:
• Date, me and locaon with direcons.
• The task(s) that you hope to accomplish.
• Descripon of problems, if any, that you have encountered.
• Tools required that you do not have.
• Model and year of your Healey, e.g., BJ8 Phase II, 1967.
• Other informaon that you would like to include in your noce.
