Alright, I’m a sucker for a good story. I admit it. I was planning on being done with recent “acquisitions” for the home bar when I stumbled across Art in the Age. I’d seen them on the shelves for a hot minute, but put them off. Then, I read a bit about them, watched a few videos, convinced myself I didn’t need any of their products, then next thing I knew found myself headed to the store to by some.

So, what’s so special? First, the story - they derive their recipes from historical stories and recipes that just feel good. And, they use certified organic products - not because of trend, but because ingredients back then were “all organic,” which is a good point.

So, how do they mix? Pretty well, surprisingly. The Rhubarb was simple - it’s so herbaceous and botanical that it naturally serves as a background component to any spring/summer cocktail. The Root was a bit more challenging, because it tends to dominate flavor wise. However, used in small quantities with other herbal, bitter, floral, and citrus flavors, it worked well.
