Precious Gems, cont. Lou Porter for donating the many beautifully crafted
refrigerator magnets, purse holders, book markers &
pony tail holders. Your support of all of the club
projects is outstanding.
Liz Porter for many days of hard work. For all you
do behind the scenes that is unnoticed but makes a
project come together and makes it a success!
Marla Lindley Diehl for 3 days of long hours, keeping
our cash boxes in order, teaching us how to market
our product and setting up our Spin to Win wheels to
draw people in which worked!
Karen Lohr for your laughter and energy and
engaging the public, your eye for minerals with
“bling” and knowing what people want to buy, and for
working a shift and being a forever friend to us all!
Ed McCauliff for helping set up and tear down, for
putting up with a house and garage full of balloon
festival stuff, skipped meals, a constant dirty car full
of rock stuff and taking care of the pets!
Pat Wheeler, we can always count on you to work a
shift, for bringing your Gem and Mineral book to look
up information for the public and writing it down so
people can remember their purchases.
Eric Hynes for your help with the show and balloon
festival. Taking on Club Secretary, for engaging the
public, for your great energy and for bringing Ayla
with you!
Ayla Hynes, you are great with adults and young
people alike. Thank you for keeping the wheel
games spinning. Someday you will be Club
President!
Balloon Festival Cudos!
Precious Gems to all who worked and donated
to the LHGMS Balloon Festival Booth. It was a
great success. We had fun and our booth was
only a few feet from the balloon launching field.
The public was very happy with our demon-
strations, displays, the rocks and minerals we
had for them and the Spin the Wheel games.
(Every spin is a win!) One of the Show organ-
izers mentioned they were impressed by the way
our members engaged the public with their
friendliness and knowledge.
Precious Gems and great appreciation from Kathy McCauliff go to:
2011 & 2012 Presidents: C Russell and Jay
Brown for trusting us to put this booth together
on a whim.
2011 & 2012 Board of Directors for their support
Carol & Homer Rhodaback for donating the new
game wheel, four days of work and many hours
of planning, for your big van, and rescuing us in
the wind storm!
C & Nan Russell for always being on board
when club work is to be done, for set up and an
all day shift, and for driving 90 miles to bring an
8’ table in a 4’ Jeep!
Karen and Lee Olsavsky for the many necklaces
you created, for 3 days of long hours during the
festival and for Lee’s 80 + years of energy. You
out worked most of us!

Precious Gems, cont. Sharlene Helberg for driving from Yucca and bringing your own equipment to demonstrate stone carving. Ron Murphy for demonstrating faceting with your own equipment. Everyone enjoyed your sample of faceted and carved stones. You were a crowd pleaser and we were very honored you were there. Ken and Barb Carpenter for driving from Parker to help us. Everyone loves your field trip stories and great humor! Kit Salway, a new member, for donating necklaces and rings, for working all day shift and helping us clean up after the wind storm. You jumped right in and helped with anything that was needed. We are lucky you joined us. John and Julie Carter, new members, for having the courage to dive in and help, for staying through a long shift and being so friendly. We enjoyed you both! Bob and Lois Ediger for donating a bag full of pendants with beautiful cabochons and silver work. Many people sought them. You have always given when asked. You both are true Club Friends! Harvey Lynch, new member, for donating bracelets, blue beads, polished stone cabochons and more. Many people had a good time trying to win each item. Gwen W. for lending us your pop-up tent. It saved us from the sun and held up great during our big Saturday wind storm! Mystery Lady, for donating necklaces with pretty stones. We put them on the game wheel and the kids loved trying to win them! Please come forward, you gave them to me at the Christmas Party. A leaverite to me for not knowing and writing your name down!
Bernie Spore for donations to the swap meet booth, for slabs, agate and polished stone and to the Balloon Festival for petrified palm wood, and petrified dinosaur poop! Along with amethyst and agate and many other stones. They were used for the wheel and people loved them! You have been a true friend and contributor to this Club!
