INTRODUCTION
I am circulating this Newsletter to my current
and past clients as well as family and friends. It
is designed to update all regarding some of my
current practice areas, to provide some basic
information regarding these areas, and to
announce the establishment of my Website
(www.rflavinlaw.com). The Website provides
additional information, and I plan to write a blog
which will be part of the Website and will
provide updates on some of the areas of law in
which I practice. I am conveniently located at
5777 Mexico Road in St. Peters Missouri. There
is ample parking and there are no steps to access
the building. In appropriate cases, if a client is
not able to come to the office, I will meet with
that client at a location more convenient for the
client.
In some areas of this Newsletter, there is a
reference to the law firm of Kell Lampin LLC.
This firm has considerable experience in the
various practice areas referred to (mesothelioma,
lung cancer, defective drugs/medical devices)
and I work closely with them in handling these
types of cases. We are located in the same
building so it is easy to share the work and
obtain the best result possible for the client.

You have been injured at work. What steps do
you take to make sure your rights and benefits are
protected? There are reporting requirements under
the law that you must comply with within a short
time after you are injured to make sure that your
rights and benefits are protected. In Missouri,
your employer selects the physician you will see
for treatment of your work related injuries, but
there are exceptions to this rule. There are other
rules and regulations you will encounter during
the course of your Worker’s Compensation case.
Your employer will be represented by an attorney
that is familiar with these rules and regulations. It
is important that you have experienced
representation by an attorney with knowledge
concerning the Worker’s Compensation laws,
rules and regulations to handle the case with
regard to your employer. Also, your attorney
should be knowledgeable about the Missouri
Second Injury Fund and should investigate
possible claims you might have concerning that
fund. We at Robert S. Flavin, P.C. have handled
Worker’s Compensation cases for over 30 years
and are completely up to date with all the laws,
rules and regulations involved in a Worker’s
Compensation case, including claims against the
Missouri Second Injury Fund.

PERSONAL INJURY
If you are injured due to the fault of another, what
do you do or not do? Each case and circumstance
is different. For example, if you are in an
automobile accident, you will want to cooperate
with the police investigating the accident.
However, before talking with any insurance
company representative or signing any papers, you
should confer with an attorney experienced in
representing clients in injury cases. At Robert S.
Flavin, P.C., we have represented clients in
personal injury cases for over 30 years. Contact us
if you are injured and we can help guide you
through the issues in your case and get you the
compensation you are entitled to.
MESOTHELIOMA
Asbestos was widely used in numerous products as
fireproofing and insulation up and through the
1970’s. Mesothelioma has been directly linked to
exposure to asbestos. If you, or a family member
or friend suffer from mesothelioma, contact me to
discuss this situation. I work closely with the law
firm of Kell Lampin LLC in handling mesothelioma
cases for clients afflicted with this terrible disease.
LUNG CANCER
There are many causes of lung cancer which are
due to exposure to hazardous substances such as
asbestos, silica dust, radon and environmental
pollutants. If the cause of lung cancer is related to
exposure to a hazardous substance, the person
afflicted with this disease may be entitled to
compensation. If you, a family member or a friend
are afflicted with lung cancer, please contact me. I
work closely with the law firm of Kell Lampin
LLC in handling lung cancer cases.
DRUG/MEDICAL DEVICE CASES
Have you, a family member or friend been injured
by a defective drug or medical device? For
example, Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors
or SSRI’s (such as Lexapro®, Celexa®, Paxil® and
Zoloft®) have been linked to birth defects. Yaz®
and Yasmine®, birth control bills, increase the risk
of increased potassium levels which can lead to
gallbladder damage and blood clots. Trans-vaginal
mesh devices, inserted in women, have caused
medical complications and in some cases have
required corrective surgery. If you, a family
member or a friend have been affected by a
defective drug or medical device, please contact. I
work closely with the law firm of Kell Lampin
LLC in handling defective drug and defective
medical device cases.
ESTATE PLANNING/PROBATE
If a close family member or friend dies and you are
uncertain as to what to do next regarding the
transfer of the assets of the deceased person to the
intended beneficiaries, contact us and we can
advise as to the steps to take to complete the
process. We also advise on Estate Planning
matters, and answer such questions as:
Do you need a will?
Do you need a trust?
Do you need powers of attorney?
We only recommend documents that are consistent
with your wishes regarding the care of you and
your financial affairs during your lifetime (if you
are unable to manage these matters yourself) and
also consistent with your wishes regarding the
transfer of your assets after your death.
